This is the debut album from US death metal band Mithridatum.
Harrowing is a 35-minute slab of blackened dissonant death metal that contains ex-members of Abhorrent and The Faceless. Continue reading “Mithridatum – Harrowing (Review)”

Ominous Scriptures are a death metal band from Belarus and this is their third album.
Featuring current and ex-members of Relics of Humanity, Rituals of Mass Self-Ignition is a 30-minute brutal death metal album that’s unforgiving and merciless. Continue reading “Ominous Scriptures – Rituals of Mass Self-Ignition (Review)”
This is the fourth album from US black metal act Ashen Horde.
Ashen Horde boast current and ex-members of bands such as Abhoria, Norse, Somnium Nox, Inferi, Equipoise, and Virulent Depravity in their ranks, and we’ve met them before on Nine Plagues and The Alchemist. Now they’re back with Antimony, a 51-minute vision of gripping extreme metal, (49 minutes without the bonus Therapy? cover). Continue reading “Ashen Horde – Antimony (Review)”
This is the debut album from Finnish grindcore band Sonic Poison.
I enjoyed Sonic Poison’s 2016 debut demo Harsh Demonstration, but missed out on the split and EP that the band released after this. It’s now time for their debut album though, and I was determined not to let this one slip by me too. Eruption is an appropriately titled 22-minute assault of vicious deathgrind. Prepare yourself for mayhem. Continue reading “Sonic Poison – Eruption (Review)”
Anachronism are a death metal band from Switzerland and this is their third album.
Meanders combines elements of the dissonant, progressive, and technical styles into a 33-minute behemoth of brutal exploratory soundscapes. If you’re a fan of bands such as Gorguts, Ulcerate, Artificial Brain, and Ad Nauseam, then this is for you. Continue reading “Anachronism – Meanders (Review)”
This is the debut album from Australian death metallers Hormagaunt.
Although In the Flesh quietly oozed into life at the end of 2022 I couldn’t resist its mouldy charms, so here we are. Get ready for a 31-minute trip into the foulest and nastiest death metal swamps. Continue reading “Hormagaunt – In the Flesh (Review)”

This is the debut album from US death metal band Re-Buried.
I very much enjoyed Re-Buried’s 2021 split with Deconsecration, so have been looking forward to Repulsive Nature. This anticipation only increased when I saw the striking album art, and also when I realised that there are two members of the amazing Un in this band. Continue reading “Re-Buried – Repulsive Nature (Review)”
Faithxtractor are a death metal band from the US and this is their fourth album.
With a duration of just 25 minutes, (29 including the Sepultura cover), Contempt for a Failed Dimension is a lean, mean slab of quality death metal. Continue reading “Faithxtractor – Contempt for a Failed Dimension (Review)”
This is the debut album from Australian death metal band Ashen.
Ritual of Ash is a 38-minute monster of a death metal album. Ashen spend their time on this record carving their way through the killing arenas of the style to appear triumphant and covered in blood by the end of it. The album snarls with Swedish death metal groove and roars with USDM intensity. A few other death metal styles can be heard here and there too, making for a collection of tracks that are easy to replay and enjoy. Continue reading “Ashen – Ritual of Ash (Review)”
