LINGUA IGNOTA – CALIGULA (Review)

LINGUA IGNOTA - CALIGULALINGUA IGNOTA is a one woman experimental artist, and this is her latest album.

Aided by a multitude of guests, (including members of The Body and Full of Hell), this is 66 minutes of beauty and brutality. This is an album that fits in no real category other than a loose experimental one. Peppered with noise, avant-garde, industrial, and post-doom/rock influences, this is music that largely belongs to the artist alone and defies easy categorisation. Continue reading

Endon – Boy Meets Girl (Review)

Endon - Boy Meets GirlEndon are a Japanese experimental post-hardcore band and this is their third album.

Holy crap, what the Hell is this? I looove it when you stumble blindly upon something as unexpectedly individual as this, especially when it’s done so well. Done poorly, this would be unlistenable nonsense, (and I’m sure there are some that would regard this as such), but Endon have a talent, it seems, for producing unusual, non-easy Continue reading

Mastiff – Plague (Review)

Mastiff - PlagueMastiff are a hardcore/sludge metal band from the UK and this is their second album.

Mastiff play the kind of pitch-black ugliness that I really like. Mixing styles and genres into an extreme metal mass of festering hatred and misery, Plague contains elements of doom, sludge, hardcore, and grindcore, all hatefully mixed together and vomited onto the listener with scorn and bile. Pig Destroyer – Head Cage (Review)

Pig DestroyerThis is the sixth album from US grindcore band Pig Destroyer.

At the heart of Pig Destroyer lies a visceral, hateful rage that’s hard to deny. Although I’m sure that will never change, how this rage is expressed can, and on the band’s latest album, has. Continue reading

Brutal Blues – BB (Review)

Brutal BluesBrutal Blues are a Norwegian grindcore band and this is their debut album.

I have been looking forward to hearing some more material from this band ever since 2014’s self-titled EP was unleashed. It seems like it’s been a long wait, and it has, I suppose.

Has it been worth it? Simply stated; yes it has. At least, if you’re a glutton for aural punishment. Continue reading

The Body & Full of Hell – Ascending a Mountain of Heavy Light (Review)

The Body & Full of HellThis is album is a collaboration between The Body, an experimental sludge band from the US, and Full of Hell, a grindcore band, also from the US. It’s the second time these two malignant entities have teamed up to create an album together.

Knowing just how awesome both The Body and Full of Hell are individually, how could you not want to listen to this? Continue reading

Friendship – Hatred (Review)

FriendshipFriendship are from Japan and play blackened grindcore/hardcore. This is their debut album.

Reeking of corrupted dark hardcore, blackened brutality, scathing powerviolence, and virulent grind, this is an album that’s perfectly titled. Continue reading
