Sanguisugabogg – Homicidal Ecstasy (Review)

Sanguisugabogg - Homicidal EcstasySanguisugabogg are a death metal band from the US and this is their second album.

Homicidal Ecstasy contains 45 minutes of brutal malevolence and filth-covered aggression.

Homicidal Ecstasy is massively heavy. It’s a largely mid-paced death metal assault that’s packed with riffs and pulverising groove. It’s primitive and direct, and should appeal to all fans of caveman stomp. Elements of slam and hardcore lie in wait like landmines, but ultimately this is crushing death metal that’s covered in gore and streaked with blood.

It’s not all slow and menacing though. Bursts of grim speed occasionally explode like unleashed violence, and the different paces that are manifested outside of this, from sludgy crawls to hardcore-tinged bounce, are well-used. The tracks are well-written slabs of bludgeoning ugliness, and I can image this stuff going down a storm live. I also really like the way that the bass is deployed.

Fans of bands like Six Feet Under, Maul, 200 Stab Wounds, Vomit Forth, Gatecreeper, Xibalba, and Undeath should definitely take the time to check this out.

Highly recommended.
