Abigail Williams – A Void Within Existence (Review)

Abigail Williams - A Void Within ExistenceThis is the sixth album from US black metal band Abigail Williams.

Brought to us by current/ex-members of bands such as Aborted, Changeling, Chrome Waves, Fear Factory, The Faceless, Lord Mantis, Nachtmystium, Vale of Pnath, and Wolvhammer, a lot of experience and skills has gone into A Void Within Existence. In fact, due to the members, I’m amazed I’ve never listened to Abigail Williams prior to this new album. I’ve heard the name many times, but this is my first exposure to their brand of black metal. Encelado – Pillars of Creation (Review)

Encelado - Pillars of CreationThis is the debut release from Italian death metallers Encelado.

Pillars of Creation contains four tracks, with a duration of 14 minutes. To get you in the right mood for Encelado, the promo blurb mentions bands such as Aborted, All Shall Perish, and Dying Fetus for the music, and Cannibal Corpse and Suffocation for the vocals. Putrid Offal – Obliterated Life (Review)

Putrid Offal - Obliterated LifeThis is the third album from French deathgrinders Putrid Offal.

Wow, has it really been ten years since 2015’s Mature Necropsy? That’s depressing. Less depressing is that we have a new Putrid Offal album to ease the terrible passage of time. With 35 minutes of new material, Obliterated Life is a wrecking ball of deathgrind nastiness. Continue reading “Putrid Offal – Obliterated Life (Review)”

Cytotoxin – Biographyte (Review)

Cytotoxin - BiographyteThis is the fifth album from German death metallers Cytotoxin.

2020’s Nuklearth was a very good album, so it’s great to have Cytotoxin back once more. Containing 48 minutes of new material, Biographyte offers a radioactive feast of death metal for us to savour and enjoy. It’s the band’s longest album, but fear not, Cytotoxin know what they’re doing. Continue reading “Cytotoxin – Biographyte (Review)”

Severe Torture – Torn from the Jaws of Death (Review)

Severe Torture - Torn from the Jaws of DeathSevere Torture are a death metal band from the Netherlands and this is their sixth album.

Torn from the Jaws of Death is a 39-minute hammer smash to the face. I’ve been a huge fan of Severe Torture ever since 2000’s Feasting on Blood, so to say I’ve been excited for this has been an understatement. I’m pleased to say that Severe Torture have delivered the entrails-smeared goods, and have also brought some additional torture implements with them too. Hideous Divinity – Unextinct (Review)

Hideous Divinity - UnextinctThis is the fifth album from Italian death metallers Hideous Divinity.

I do enjoy Hideous Divinity‘s brand of technical brutality. 2014’s Cobra Verde, 2017’s Adveniens, and 2021’s LV-426 were all solid slabs of death metal muscle and intricate aggression, so it’s with expectation that we turn to Unextinct and its 51 minutes of new material. Aborted – Vault of Horrors (Review)

Aborted - Vault of HorrorsAborted are a death metal band from Belgium and this is their twelfth album.

I can’t help but love Aborted. Their addictive blast and groove approach to death metal is tried, tested, and brutally efficient. I’ll link my reviews for Retrogore, Bathos, Terrorvision, and Maniacult, and urge you to check them all out, as they’re definitely all worth your time. Which brings us to Vault of Horrors, the new 40-minute Aborted offering. Continue reading “Aborted – Vault of Horrors (Review)”

Engulf – The Dying Planet Weeps (Review)

Engulf - The Dying Planet WeepsThis is the debut album from US solo death metal act Engulf.

Across 36 minutes The Dying Planet Weeps spans a range of influences, from the old-school to the new. The music of Engulf prioritises a non-standard song-based approach that combines sinuous riffs, expressive harsh vocals, and macabre darkness. Demonstealer – The Propaganda Machine (Review)

Demonstealer - The Propaganda MachineThis is the fourth album from Indian one-man extreme metal band Demonstealer.

I enjoyed both 2016’s This Burden Is Mine and 2021’s The Holocene Termination, so it’s now time to catch up with the talented artist behind Demonstealer. This time he’s come with a large supporting cast, as he’s assembled an enviable amount of musicians to help him to achieve his metallic goals, (from Continue reading “Demonstealer – The Propaganda Machine (Review)”
