De Profundis – The Gospel of Rot (Review)

De Profundis - The Gospel of RotDe Profundis are a death metal band from the UK and this is their latest EP.

I have a lot of time for De Profundis. If you haven’t already, check out 2014’s Frequencies, 2015’s Kingdom of the Blind, 2018’s The Blinding Light of Faith, and 2022’s The Corruption of Virtue. All are well-worth your time. The band are now back with The Gospel of Rot, which brings us four tracks across 17-minutes, as well as a new bassist and singer. Orbit Culture – Death Above Life (Review)

Orbit Culture - Death Above LifeThis is the fifth album from Swedish metal band Orbit Culture.

I enjoyed 2020’s Nija, 2021’s Shaman, and 2023’s, Descent, so Death Above Life is well-received. If you’re unfamiliar with Orbit Culture, check these previous releases out if you’re a fan of bands such as Gojira, In FlamesLamb of GodMeshuggah, Metallica, Slipknot, Soilwork, Static-X, SylosisThy Art Is Murder, and Trivium. Wode – Uncrossing the Keys (Review)

Wode - Uncrossing the KeysThis is the fourth album from UK black/doom/heavy metal band Wode.

This is the follow up to 2021’s Burn in Many Mirrors, and a record I’m pleased to see appear. Uncrossing the Keys is not more of the same from Wode though. This should be expected, as each Wode album so far has found the band adding to their musical framework. Continue reading “Wode – Uncrossing the Keys (Review)”

Achathras – A Darkness of the Ancient Past (Review)

Achathras - A Darkness of the Ancient PastThis is the debut album from black metal band Achathras.

A mysterious entity, formed by veterans of the scene apparently, Achathras certainly know their stuff. A Darkness of the Ancient Past contains 43 minutes of classic 90s black metal, and it’s pretty damn good. Continue reading “Achathras – A Darkness of the Ancient Past (Review)”

Abraded – Ethereal Emanations from Chthonic Caries (Review)

Abraded - Ethereal Emanations from Cthonic CariesThis is the third album by US deathgrind band Abraded.

Containing an ex-member of Noxis, Abraded play festering death metal that’s been further filthened up by an injection of nasty grindcore. The 26 minutes of Ethereal Emanations from Chthonic Caries is a brutal piece of work. Continue reading “Abraded – Ethereal Emanations from Chthonic Caries (Review)”
