Down Among the Dead Men – …And You Will Obey Me (Review)

Down Among the Dead MenThis is the third album from Down Among the Dead Men, an international death metal/crust supergroup.

The two main members of this band have a wealth of experience between them. This includes, (but is not limited to), Echelon, Megascavenger, Paganizer, The Grotesquery, Those Who Bring the Torture, Just Before Dawn and Ursinne). Phew, that’s a lot of expertise. Blissful Stream – Dead Religious (Review)

Blissful StreamBlissful Stream is a Swedish one man doom metal band and this is his latest EP.

I really like Blissful Stream. Both 2016’s Ascending Demons and 2017’s Devil’s Night to All Souls, (a split with Lightsabres), were very enjoyable and showcased the artist’s lo-fi and charismatic take on doom metal/rock. Now it’s 2018, and time for a new EP, which we have in the form of the 14 minutes of material that makes up Dead Religious. Continue reading “Blissful Stream – Dead Religious (Review)”

Mephorash – The Third Woe (Review)

MephorashThis is the latest EP from Swedish black metallers Mephorash.

This is a brief EP that’s designed to whet appetites for Mephorash’s upcoming new album. It features one new song and one re-recorded one off the band’s 2012 album Chalice of Thagirion. Continue reading “Mephorash – The Third Woe (Review)”

Precaria/Deathspiral of Inherited Suffering/Dominus Ira – Metamorphosphoros – Split (Review)

Precaria Deathspiral of Inherited Suffering Dominus IraThis is a split between three black metal bands, Precaria from Mexico, Deathspiral of Inherited Suffering from the US, and Dominus Ira from Russia.

This is a split based around a single concept, (the concept of Theion, the divine fire that burns but never consumes), with each band contributing their individual vision of occult black metal to the overarching whole. A lot of time and effort has obviously gone into this release, which is reflected in the lengthy playing time of 68 minutes. The Noble – Abolitionism (Review)

The NobleThis is the latest EP from The Noble, a hardcore band from the US.

I don’t often get to listen to much belligerent hardcore these days, so it’s great when I cross paths with something as heavy and uncompromising as Abolitionism. Continue reading “The Noble – Abolitionism (Review)”

Toothless – Red (Review)

ToothlessToothless are a hardcore/metalcore band from the US and this is their latest EP.

The press blurb describes Red as being influenced by bands like Norma Jean, The Chariot, and Every Time I Die, and I can see that; this is of that same breed of chaotic, barbed metal/hard/noise/mathcore. If you like those aforementioned bands, then you should get on very well with Toothless. Continue reading “Toothless – Red (Review)”

Agathocles/Psychoneurosis – War Fetisjists Kill/Grind Resurrection – Split (Review)

Interview with Visigoth

Visigoth Header

Visigoth are without doubt, (in my humble opinion at least), one of the best of the current crop of traditional heavy metal bands. They have all of the requisite aspects and elements that make a great heavy metal band, and all of this has been realised in the band’s latest album Conqueror’s Oath. If you haven’t yet checked it out then do so immediately!

I had the great pleasure to ask the band’s guitarist Leeland Campana a few questions, so let’s get to know Visigoth and their latest album a bit more… Continue reading “Interview with Visigoth”

Dagger Lust – Siege Bondage Adverse to the Godhead (Review)

Dagger LustDagger Lust are a black metal/grind/noise band from the US and this is their debut album.

Featuring members of Triumvir Foul and Witch Vomit, Dagger Lust play ugly, underground black metal that’s been further polluted with murky grindcore and barbed noise. It’s relentlessly nasty and completely unwholesome. Continue reading “Dagger Lust – Siege Bondage Adverse to the Godhead (Review)”

Depravity – Evil Upheaval (Review)

DepravityDepravity are an Australian death metal band and this is their debut album.

Featuring a member of Impiety/The Furor, this is 40 minutes of 90s-inspired death metal. Morbid Angel fans in particular should pay attention, but this is really for any fan of bands such as  Continue reading “Depravity – Evil Upheaval (Review)”
