You, Infinite – You, Infinite (Review)

This is the debut album from post-rock band You, Infinite.

Brought to us by founding members of This Will Destroy You, You, Infinite contains 65 minutes of instrumental post-rock. I find this sort of style quite easy to become bored by, but not when it’s in as capable hands as these ones. Beneath a Steel Sky – Cleave (Review)

This is the debut album from Scottish post-metal/rock band Beneath a Steel Sky.

The promo blurb recommends the 40-minute Cleave for fans of bands such as Isis, Cult of Luna, Russian Circles, Cave In, and Mogwai, which should give you a good starting point for Beneath a Steel Sky’s material. Harakiri for the Sky – Scorched Earth (Review)

This is the sixth album from Austrian post-black metallers Harakiri for the Sky.

Harakiri for the Sky always seem to deliver albums that are lengthy, but rewarding. 2016’s III: Trauma, 2018’s Arson, and 2021’s Mӕre were all notable records in this regard. Bloodbark – Sacred Sound of Solitude (Review)

Bloodbark are a black metal band and this is their second album. The country of origin and number of members is apparently unknown.

Sacred Sound of Solitude provides us with 41 minutes of atmospheric black metal. The atmospheric core is augmented by elements of post-black metal, blackgaze, and post-rock, contributing to the richness of the album’s blackened heart. Wonderbox Metal End of Year List – Best Metal of 2024

Yes, it’s list season once more, so gather round and witness some of the best metal that 2024 had to offer!

2024 was a fantastic year for metal, and that’s an understatement. I thought 2023 was one of the weaker years for metal releases, overall. As such, putting last year’s list together, although challenging as it always is, was relatively effortless compared to this one. I don’t think I’ve agonised over placings more any other year. Silhouette are a post-black metal band from France and this is their debut albm.

Spineless – Dysphonia (Review)

This is the second album from Greek experimental/post-metal band Spineless.

Dysphonia is a record that blends a few different influences together. Post-metal, doom, post-rock, electronica, and industrial influences are all used in service of the music’s goals; the crafting of experimental soundscapes that paint striking pictures for the listener to explore. Anomalie – Riverchild (Review)

Anomalie are an Austrian post-black metal band and this is their fifth album.
