Lurk – Fringe (Review)

LurkThis is the third album from Finnish sludge/doom band Lurk.

Now here’s an album that’s all about texture and atmosphere. Fringe is a cross between bands such as Neurosis, Inter Arma, Sea of Bones, and labelmates Jupiterian, to name but a few. However, on Fringe the band display their own dark personality, and are firmly convincing in their own right. Continue reading “Lurk – Fringe (Review)”

Second to Sun – The Black (Review)

Second to SunThis is the fourth album from Russian blackened melodic death metal band Second to Sun.

Apparently this is a rerecording of the band’s 2016 release Blackbound, with added vocals, and other differences. The Agony Scene – Tormentor (Review)

The Agony SceneThe Agony Scene are a US metal band and this is their fourth album.

2016’s .- -… … . -. -.-. . was an album I really enjoyed, so this new full-length is very gratefully received. The Density Parameter, however, is something else entirely. Continue reading “Mesarthim – The Density Parameter (Review)”

Runespell – Order of Vengeance (Review)

RunespellRunespell is a one man black metal band from Australia, and this is his second album.

I enjoyed 2017’s Unhallowed Blood Oath, which gave us seven tracks of utterly authentic 90s second wave black metal. Well, it’s now 2018, and we have yet another seven tracks to consume. Continue reading “Runespell – Order of Vengeance (Review)”
