Undead Prophecies – Sempiternal Void (Review)

Undead Prophecies - Sempiternal VoidThis is the second album from death metal band Undead Prophecies.

This is death metal rooted in the old-school. It’s played with obvious reverence for what came before it, and has clearly injected itself with a potent cocktail of stimulants to hit with as much force as it can. Continue reading “Undead Prophecies – Sempiternal Void (Review)”

Illimitable Dolor – Leaden Light (Review)

Illimitable Dolor - Leaden LightIllimitable Dolor are from Australia, and play atmospheric death/doom metal.

Following on from their split with Promethean Misery, I was keen to hear more from Illimitable Dolor. Well, now is that opportunity; Leaden Light contains 52 minutes of material, carved into five exquisite slices. Continue reading “Illimitable Dolor – Leaden Light (Review)”

Truth Corroded – Bloodlands (Review)

Truth Corroded - BloodlandsThis is the sixth album from Truth Corroded, an Australian death/thrash metal band.

Truth Corroded serve up over 40 minutes worth of extreme metal on Bloodlands. The band’s style mixes skull-cracking brutality with razor-sharp thrash metal. This is music to simultaneously get smashed up and lacerated by. Continue reading “Truth Corroded – Bloodlands (Review)”

Thecodontion – Jurassic (Review)

Evergreen Refuge – Skyward (Review)

Evergreen Refuge - SkywardThis is the tenth album from US one man atmospheric black metal project Evergreen Refuge.

I like Evergreen Refuge a lot. I may not listen to this project that often, (partially due to the colossal song lengths, and partially due to needing to be in a certain mood), but the artist behind this band has pumped out some truly memorable and impressive work since first Continue reading “Evergreen Refuge – Skyward (Review)”

Onirophagus – Endarkenment (Illumination Through Putrefaction) (Review)

Onirophagus - Endarkenment (Illumination Through Putrefaction)Onirophagus are a Spanish death/doom metal band and this is their second album.

The phrase ‘crushing doom’ was made for a band like Onirophagus. Well, ‘crushing death/doom’ is more accurate I suppose, but it probably doesn’t matter too much. The operative word here is ‘crushing’. Continue reading “Onirophagus – Endarkenment (Illumination Through Putrefaction) (Review)”
