Crawl – Rituals (Review)

CrawlThis is the debut album from Swedish death metallers Crawl.

Four things made me quite excited to hear this album, even before I really knew too much about it. The first is that it’s coming out on the always reliable Transcending Obscurity Records, (who have been especially Continue reading “Crawl – Rituals (Review)”

The Agony Scene – Tormentor (Review)

The Agony SceneThe Agony Scene are a US metal band and this is their fourth album.

Tormentor is the first release from The Agony Scene since 2007’s Get Damned. I always liked this band’s razor-sharp take on modern metal, so it’s great to hear them make a return. Continue reading “The Agony Scene – Tormentor (Review)”

Closet Witch – Closet Witch (Review)

Deathgrave – So Real, It’s Now (Review)

DeathgraveThis is the debut album from US grindcore band Deathgrave.

Here we have a violent 27 minutes of brutal grindcore. Mixing deathgrind, powerviolence, and punk into its abrasive attack, So Real, It’s Now is impressively rabid. However, and very interestingly, there’s more here than just aggressive tendencies. Continue reading “Deathgrave – So Real, It’s Now (Review)”

Denim Casket – Demo (Review)

Denim CasketDenim Casket are a US grindcore/sludge band and this is their debut demo.

What in the name of everloving filth do we have here then? The blurb tells me that this is a band with drums, two basses, and vocals. I do like me a bit of a bass-heavy assault, so how could I pass this up? Let’s dive in. Continue reading “Denim Casket – Demo (Review)”
