Label Roundup: Godz Ov War Productions – Eradicate, Toughness, & Angrrsth/Czort (Reviews)

Wonderbox Metal gets sent a lot of new music, (which is great), but there’s no way that everything can get covered unfortunately, (which is not so great). This column hopes to redress this balance, if only slightly, by taking a look at a handful of releases that a record label has recently sent out that might have otherwise slipped through the cracks.

Godz Ov War Productions have released some good albums over the years, so now seemed as good a time as any to catch up with some of their latest output. According to the label, they are “an independent label dedicated to extreme music from the depths of the underground.”Let’s see what they’ve got… Continue reading “Label Roundup: Godz Ov War Productions – Eradicate, Toughness, & Angrrsth/Czort (Reviews)”

Live Burial – Curse of the Forlorn (Review)

Live Burial - Curse of the ForlornLive Burial are a UK death metal band and this is their third album.

2020’s Unending Futility was a decent slab of old-school death metal carnage. The band are now back with the 47-minute behemoth that is Curse of the Forlorn. Continue reading “Live Burial – Curse of the Forlorn (Review)”

Reeking Aura – Blood and Bonemeal (Review)

Reeking Aura - Blood and BonemealReeking Aura are a death metal band from the US and this is their debut album.

Blood and Bonemeal contains 34 minutes of gruesome death metal brought to us by current and ex-members of Afterbirth, Artificial Brain, Buckshot Facelift, Coma Cluster Void, Grey Skies Fallen, and Unearthly Trance. In other words, Reeking Aura bring a lot of experience to the table. Continue reading “Reeking Aura – Blood and Bonemeal (Review)”

Sedimentum – Suppuration Morphogénésiaque (Review)

Sedimentum - Suppuration MorphogénésiaqueSedimentum are a death metal band from Canada and this is their debut album.

Featuring a guitarist from Outre-Tombe, Suppuration Morphogénésiaque contains 39 minutes of filthy death metal. Sedimentum have a sound that’s dense and unforgiving. The band’s music is ugly and rotten, but underneath the surface it is well-crafted and delivered. Continue reading “Sedimentum – Suppuration Morphogénésiaque (Review)”

Inhuman Condition – Fearsick (Review)

Inhuman Condition - FearsickInhuman Condition are a death metal band from the US and this is their second album.

Featuring current and ex-members of bands such as Death, Deicide, Massacre, Obituary, Six Feet Under, Venom Inc., and Wombbath, you know a lot of experience and skill has gone into Fearsick. Across 36 minutes Inhuman Condition subject us to a competent collection of songs that are just plain fun. Continue reading “Inhuman Condition – Fearsick (Review)”

Altars – Ascetic Reflection (Review)

Altars - Ascetic ReflectionThis is the second album from Australian death metallers Altars.

Ascetic Reflection contains 40 minutes of warped death metal. As a rough outline of the band’s sound, take a base of Morbid Angel and then add in elements of bands like Gorguts, Artificial Brain, and Ulcerate. Then know that that these lazy comparisons do nothing to prepare you for the journey that Ascetic reflection offers. Continue reading “Altars – Ascetic Reflection (Review)”

Organectomy – Nail Below Nail (Review)

Organectomy - Nail Below NailOrganectomy are a death metal band from New Zealand and this is their third album.

Both 2017’s Domain of the Wretched and 2019’s Existential Disconnect were brutally good fun, so it was with high expectations that I approached Nail Below Nail.

Delivering 45 minutes of Continue reading “Organectomy – Nail Below Nail (Review)”

Vomit Forth – Seething Malevolence (Review)

Vomit Forth - Seething MalevolenceThis is the debut album from Vomit Forth, a death metal band from the US.

Vomit Forth play brutal death metal that’s punishing and unforgiving. Across a very compact and lean 29 minutes the band deal out death and carnage to all that come before them. Continue reading “Vomit Forth – Seething Malevolence (Review)”

Entrails – An Eternal Time of Decay (Review)

Entrails - An Eternal Time of DecayThis is the seventh album from Entrails, a Swedish death metal band.

A new Entrails album is always worth a listen. I enjoyed 2015’s Obliteration, 2017’s World Inferno, and 2019’s Rise of the Reaper, and An Eternal Time of Decay – with its 46 minutes of material – is no different. Continue reading “Entrails – An Eternal Time of Decay (Review)”
