Full of Hell – Trumpeting Ecstasy (Review)

Full of HellFull of Hell are a US grindcore band, and this is their fifth album, (or third, if you don’t count their collaborative ones).

Full of Hell play grindcore that’s both primitive and innovative. Combing death metal, powerviolence, punk, crust, harsh electronics, and noise into a gruesomely violent and nasty grindcore package, Full of Hell are Continue reading “Full of Hell – Trumpeting Ecstasy (Review)”

Deny the Urge – As Darkness Falls (Review)

Deny the UrgeThis is Deny the Urge’s third album. They’re from Germany and play death metal.

Deny the Urge’s debut album Subsequent Confrontation was a real underground gem of an album, but now, well over a decade later, it’s like listening to a different band. Which is understandable when you take a look at the Continue reading “Deny the Urge – As Darkness Falls (Review)”

Burke and Hare – Burke and Hare (Review)

Burke and HareBurke and Hare are a UK sludge metal band and this is their debut EP.

Here we have just over 12 minutes of ugly heaviness, just the we like it for this kind of sludge-driven hideousness. Continue reading “Burke and Hare – Burke and Hare (Review)”

Soul Remnants – Ouroboros (Review)

Soul RemnantsThis is the third album from US death metallers Soul Remnants.

Ouroboros is the follow up to the crushingly enjoyable pitch-black slab of metal that was the band’s 2013 album Black and Blood, which made it into my best of 2013 end of year list. Continue reading “Soul Remnants – Ouroboros (Review)”

Edguy – Monuments (Review)

EdguyEdguy are a long-running power/heavy metal band from Germany and this is a 25-year anniversary compilation album, (plus some other things).

Edguy are one of those bands that, for some reason, I’ve never actually heard before this release, despite being aware of them pretty much since they released their first album in 1995. I don’t normally review, (or listen to), Continue reading “Edguy – Monuments (Review)”

Expulsion – Nightmare Future (Review)

ExpulsionExpulsion are a US grindcore band and this is their debut release.

Consisting of members of bands such as Exhumed and Repulsion, (presumably where the name Expulsion came from?), as well as Gruesome, Intronaut, Phobia, and Lightning Swords of Death, it’s safe to say that there’s a wealth of experience that’s gone into this release.

Interview with Mutation

Mutation Header

If you’re familiar with the majority of Ginger’s past work, (his solo material and The Wildhearts being the obvious ones that most would probably know), then the latest album from this particular project might surprise you with its content. It’s not pretty, but it is pretty stunning.

With a jaw-dropping mix of extremity and catchiness, and a bucketful of emotional content to match, Mutation have put something quite special together for their latest album – III: Dark Black. All I can say is please, for the love of everything heavy, nasty, and extreme, go and listen to it.

Get ready to unleash the demons… Continue reading “Interview with Mutation”

Wildspeaker – Spreading Adder (Review)

WildspeakerThis is the second album from blackened hardcore band Wildspeaker.

After the revelation that was last year’s split with Cara Neir, (Guilt and His Reflection), I’m quite excited to get to experience some more material from this notable band. Continue reading “Wildspeaker – Spreading Adder (Review)”
