Concrete Winds – Concrete Winds (Review)

Concrete Winds - Concrete WindsThis is the third album from Finnish death metallers Concrete Winds.

Concrete Winds is a 25-minute monstrosity that bleeds violence from every infected pore. It’s abrasive and hateful, yet carries with it more depth and substance than you’d probably expect; Concrete Winds seem to know what they’re doing. Continue reading “Concrete Winds – Concrete Winds (Review)”

Uniform – American Standard (Review)

Uniform - American StandardUniform are an industrial band from the US and this is their fifth album.

Ever since discovering Uniform on their 2018 album The Long Walk I’ve looked forward to every subsequent release. Whether it’s their collaborations with The Body in 2019, (Everything That Dies Someday Comes Back), or Boris in 2023, (Bright New Disease), or their most recent full length in 2020 Shame, Uniform always produce music that’s worth exploring. All of which is to say that American Standard is hotly anticipated. Continue reading “Uniform – American Standard (Review)”

Simone Simons – Vermillion (Review)

Simone Simons - VermillionThis is the debut album from Simone Simons, a symphonic metal artist from the Netherlands.

I’ve always had a healthy respect for Epica, and for the vocals of their talented singer Simone Simons, so when Vermillion appeared, it only made sense to check it out. I’m so glad I did. Continue reading “Simone Simons – Vermillion (Review)”

Construct of Lethe – A Kindness Dealt in Venom (Review)

Construct of Lethe - A Kindness Dealt in VenomThis is the third album from US death metal band Construct of Lethe.

Construct of Lethe’s last album Exiler came out in 2018, and was a brutal affair of merciless death metal. The band have moved on since then, and A Kindness Dealt in Venom offers up a mix of death and black metal, with touches of doom, and further enriched by electronics, synths, and industrial elements. Its foundation is a death metal one, but it’s not limited to purely this genre. Continue reading “Construct of Lethe – A Kindness Dealt in Venom (Review)”

Four Stroke Baron – Data Diamond (Review)

Four Stroke Baron - Data DiamondFour Stroke Baron are a progressive metal band from the US and this is their fourth album.

This is my first encounter with Four Stroke Baron, but it’s a very favourable one. Containing 41 minutes of material, Data Diamond is packed to the hilt with multifaceted content. Strap in, it’s going to be a wild one. Continue reading “Four Stroke Baron – Data Diamond (Review)”

Full of Hell – Coagulated Bliss (Review)

Full of Hell - Coagulated BlissThis is the sixth album from US grindcore band Full of Hell.

New Full of Hell is always a bit exciting, and this time they have returned with their most colourful album cover yet. What does this mean for the music contained within? Before we get to that, I’ll just link to my previous reviews of 2017’s Trumpeting Ecstasy, 2019’s Weeping Choir, and 2021’s Garden of Burning Apparitions, as all are damn fine albums worthy of your attention. Continue reading “Full of Hell – Coagulated Bliss (Review)”

Guiltless – Thorns (Review)

Guiltless - ThornsThis is the debut EP from US doom band Guiltless.

What do we have here then? A new band featuring members of Intronaut, Generation of Vipers, A Storm of Light, IIVII, and Battle of Mice? How supremely enticing. Thorns contains 24 minutes of music, and showcases Guiltless’ brand of nihilistic darkness well. Continue reading “Guiltless – Thorns (Review)”

Eitrin – Eitrin (Review)

Eitrin - EitrinThis is the debut album from French avant-garde black metal band Eitrin.

And what do we have here, appearing out of nowhere in a cloud of poisonous fumes? We’re told the following – “The specially commissioned debut album from EITRIN brings together the talents of Vindsval (BLUT AUS NORD), Marion (MÜTTERLEIN) and Dehn Sora (THROANE) to celebrate 20 years of Debemur Morti Productions in fittingly defiant style.” Continue reading “Eitrin – Eitrin (Review)”
