Shaarimoth – Devildom (Review)

This is the third album from Shaarimoth, a blackened death metal band from Norway.

Shaarimoth return with Devildom, a new 43 minutes of material. After a considerable gap since their last album, (2017’s Temple of the Adversarial Fire), I knew I wanted to make sure I immersed myself in the band’s dark blackened death metal once more. Shaarimoth haven’t been totally absent though during that time though, as in 2021 they also contributed to a split release with Thy Darkened Shade, Amestigon and Inconcessus Lux Lucis called SamaeLilith: A Conjunction of the Fireborn. UK Slam Fest 2024 – Day Two: Saturday – Disavowed/Devangelic/Fulci/Anime Torment/Impurist/Anoxide/Spawned from Hate/Slug Gore/Colpocleisis/Type A Secretor – The Bread Shed, Manchester – 19/10/24 (Live Review)

Day two of UK Slam Fest. I couldn’t make day one unfortunately, but I had to make sure I was here for today. After all, it promises a glorious celebration of ugly heaviness. It’s brutal, fun, and had to be seen. The Bread Shed is not a venue I’ve been to before, but I like it and I’d happily come back here again.

Spoiler alert – this was a top day of brutality. Even Borat was in attendance, unexpectedly. Black Curse – Burning in Celestial Poison (Review)

Black Curse are a US black/death metal band and this is their second album.

Following on from 2020’s hideously good Endless Wound, comes the 45-minute monstrosity that is Burning in Celestial Poison. Featuring five tracks that are mostly far longer than their predecessors, Black Curse have unleashed a severe statement of malevolent intent with their new record. Endonomos – Endonomos II – Enlightenment (Review)

This is the second album from Austrian death/doom metal band Endonomos.

Endonomos II – Enlightenment contains 49 minutes of death/doom, although this tag is a bit misleading. Endonomos’ music is far richer and more emotive than many playing that style, and benefits from a base of traditional doom that’s unexpected. Blood Incantation – Absolute Elsewhere (Review)

This is the third album from US death metallers Blood Incantation.

2016’s Starspawn and 2019’s Hidden History of the Human Race were both great records, and now we finally have the much-anticipated Absolute Elsewhere. It’s Blood Incantation’s longest album at 44 minutes, and uses this time wisely to showcase its mastery of cosmic progressive death metal. Maul – In the Jaws of Bereavement (Review)

I confess I had unreasonably high expectations for this one going in. I really enjoyed 2022’s Seraphic Punishment, in that deeply satisfying way that only quality death metal can give you.
