Epi-Demic – Malformed Conscience (Review)

Epi-DemicEpi-Demic are a Canadian thrash metal band and this is their second album.

Having very much enjoyed their split with Solanum, I was looking forward to this. They’ve improved on what they accomplished with that split, and the Epi-Demic of 2017 is lean, hungry, and full of relentlessly nasty fun. Continue reading “Epi-Demic – Malformed Conscience (Review)”

Mindful of Pripyat/Stench of Profit – New Doomsday Orchestration – Split (Review)

Mindful of Pripyat Stench of ProfitMindful of Pripyat and Stench of Profit are both grindcore bands from Italy and have teamed up for this split release, both contributing around 11 minutes of material each.

Mindful of Pripyat are the first of the two bands to show off their stuff. I very much enjoyed their debut release …and Deeper I Drown in Doom…, so the prospect of some new tracks by them was Continue reading “Mindful of Pripyat/Stench of Profit – New Doomsday Orchestration – Split (Review)”

Cioran – Bestiale Battito Divino (Review)

CioranCioran are an Italian blackened punk band. This is their latest release.

Chaos. Ugly, blackened chaos. Underground hardcore punk with more anger and bile than you can shake a stick at. Yes, this is what you should expect from the 25 minutes of mayhem on Bestiale Battito Divino. Continue reading “Cioran – Bestiale Battito Divino (Review)”

Sunlight’s Bane – The Blackest Volume: Like All the Earth Was Buried (Review)

Sunlight's BaneThis is the debut album from Sunlight’s Bane, a blackened sludge/grindcore band from the US.

This is nasty, raw and nihilistic music that wants nothing more than to terrify, scar and demoralise the listener. With a mix of Nails, Anaal Nathrakh, Hooded Menace, Aborted, Trap Them, Extreme Noise Terror, Primitive Man, Zao, and many others in their sound, Sunlight’s Bane have concocted an identity that’s very much their own and quite a hard one to accurately classify, if you care about such things. Continue reading “Sunlight’s Bane – The Blackest Volume: Like All the Earth Was Buried (Review)”

Henry Kane – Den Förstörda Människans Rike (Review)

Henry KaneHenry Kane is a one-man deathgrind/death metal/crust project from Sweden.

This is quite hard to classify, but essentially Den Förstörda Människans Rike is a festering, ugly mix of Swedish death metal, hardcore/crust and Swedish grind.

This is deathgrind of the highest, yet filthiest variety. Think of a mutant mix of Dismember, Nails, Anaal Nathrakh, Nasum and Martyrdöd. Continue reading “Henry Kane – Den Förstörda Människans Rike (Review)”

The Drip – The Haunting Fear of Inevitability (Review)

The DripThis is the debut album from US grindcore band The Drip.

The band’s 2014 EP A Presentation of Gruesome Poetics was a brief glimpse into the world of The Drip and what they were capable of. I said in the review that the EP bodes well for a future album release and that they were ones to watch. Well, after a longer wait than Continue reading “The Drip – The Haunting Fear of Inevitability (Review)”

Gränslandet – Solidum (Review)

granslandetGränslandet are a hardcore band from Sweden. This is their debut album.

This is 41 minutes of filthy hardcore that combines d-beat, crust and sludge together into a grime-covered mass of aural pollution.

The band have the kind of production that sounds as if they’ve been dragged out of the swamp, kicking and clawing into the sunlight. Raw, underground and filthy doesn’t quite cover it in many ways. Continue reading “Gränslandet – Solidum (Review)”

Nuisible – Inter Feces et Urinam Nascimur (Review)

NuisibleNuisible are a blackened hardcore band from France. This is their debut album.

Inter Feces et Urinam Nascimur sort of sounds like what would happen if Darkthrone embraced a love of Scandinavian d-beat and produced one massively pissed off record. Add in some elements of crusty death metal and grindcore and you have 23 minutes of red-hot anger. Continue reading “Nuisible – Inter Feces et Urinam Nascimur (Review)”
