2018’s Serpent’s Curse was a great record, so this new one is much-anticipated. Into the Red contains 47 minutes of horror-themed old-school death metal, and the album has been worth anticipating; this is a crushing record that deserves much attention. I do enjoy Henry Kane’s work. If you haven’t already, make sure you check out Den Förstörda Människans Rike and the split with Prolefeed. Brought to us by the man-of-a-million-bands Jonny Pettersson, (Ashcloud, Gods Forsaken, Heads for the Dead, Just Before Dawn, Ursinne, Wombbath, and many others), Age of the Idiot is a brutally sublime piece of extremity. SWEDISH DEATH METAL!!! Yeah! Wombbath return to give us another 50 minutes of the good stuff. I have a soft spot for this style that’s undeniable, but Wombbath have proven their worth in the past. Featuring members of bands such as Ashcloud, Henry Kane, Just Before Dawn, Gods Forsaken, Heads for the Dead, Ursinne, Repulsive Vision, and many others, you know that the style is in experienced hands before even pressing play. Continue reading “Wombbath – Choirs of the Fallen (Review)”
This is the follow up to the band’s 2017 debut album In a Pitch Black Grave, and it shows that Gods Forsaken have lost none of their talent for butchery. Continue reading “Gods Forsaken – Smells of Death (Review)”
Here we have another death metal supergroup of sorts from the always reliable Transcending Obscurity Records. Featuring the vocalist of the very tasty Revel in Flesh and the multi-talented Jonny Pettersson, (Ursinne, Ashcloud, Henry Kane, Just Before Dawn, Wombbath, and others), Serpent’s Curse gives us 36 minutes of horror-themed old-school death metal. Continue reading “Heads for the Dead – Serpent’s Curse (Review)”
To give you a very good idea of who has been involved with this album, I’m just going to reproduce a bit of the promo blurb below – Continue reading “Just Before Dawn – Tides of Blood (Review)”
We last met Prolefeed on their very enjoyable split with War All the Time, and they open this release with a fast and furious 13 minutes of aural mayhem. Continue reading “Prolefeed/Henry Kane – The Mass Forfeiture of Collective Responsibility – Split (Review)”
A death metal supergroup you say? Sounds interesting.
So who’s involved?
Well, this is a collaboration between Dave Ingram and Jonny Pettersson. Between them they Continue reading “Ursinne – Swim with the Leviathan (Review)”
This is quite hard to classify, but essentially Den Förstörda Människans Rike is a festering, ugly mix of Swedish death metal, hardcore/crust and Swedish grind.
This is deathgrind of the highest, yet filthiest variety. Think of a mutant mix of Dismember, Nails, Anaal Nathrakh, Nasum and Martyrdöd. Continue reading “Henry Kane – Den Förstörda Människans Rike (Review)”
