This is the sixth album from US black metal band Abigail Williams.

Brought to us by current/ex-members of bands such as Aborted, Changeling, Chrome Waves, Fear Factory, The Faceless, Lord Mantis, Nachtmystium, Vale of Pnath, and Wolvhammer, a lot of experience and skills has gone into A Void Within Existence. In fact, due to the members, I’m amazed I’ve never listened to Abigail Williams prior to this new album. I’ve heard the name many times, but this is my first exposure to their brand of black metal. Vintras are a UK black metal band and this is their debut album.

Labyrinthus Stellarum – Rift in Reality (Review)

Labyrinthus Stellarum are a black metal band from Ukraine and this is their third album.

Rift in Reality contains 37 minutes of engaging black metal with a sci-fi theme. Labyrinthus Stellarum play black metal that’s enhanced with electronic elements and extraterrestrial keyboards. Overall it’s a mix of melodic, atmospheric, and industrial black metal, although There are actually a few other styles mixed into the DNA of this too, including a bit of symphonic deathcore, to name just one. Рожь (Rye) – Знание (Review)

This is the third album from Рожь (otherwise known as Rye), a one-man blackened doom band from Russia.

Jade – Mysteries of a Flowery Dream (Review)

This is the second album from international death metal band Jade.

As a subgenre, atmospheric death metal never really took off like its black metal counterpart did. However, if you want a good example of what it might look like, then look no further than Jade. Making a good impression with 2022’s The Pacification of Death, and cementing this with last year’s split with Sanctuarium, the 43-minute Mysteries of a Flowery Dream is one I’ve been looking forward to. Acceptance – Crucifixion of Orchids (Review)

Acceptance are a post-black metal band from the UK and this is their debut album.

Previously known as Fatalist, (with an album under that name, so whether this is their first or second I suppose is up for debate), Acceptance exist at an interesting intersection between atmospheric black metal, sludge, blackgaze, and post-rock. A Flock Named Murder – Incendiary Sanctum (Review)

A Flock Named Murder are a black/extreme metal band from Canada and this is their second album.

Incendiary Sanctum only contains four tracks, but has a running time of 64 minutes. A Flock Named Murder are ambitious, and use this time to explore a hybrid sound that combines elements of black, death, doom, and post-metal together very effectively.
