Obscene – ...From Dead Horizon to Dead Horizon (Review)

Obscene - ...From Dead Horizon to Dead HorizonThis is the second album from US death metal band Obscene.

This is the follow up to 2020’s well-received The Inhabitable Dark and contains 32 minutes of new material. Septicflesh – Modern Primitive (Review)

Septicflesh - Modern PrimitiveSepticflesh, (Septic Flesh?), are a symphonic death metal band from Greece and this is their eleventh album.

Following on from 2017’s Codex OmegaModern Primitives is another devastatingly effective slab of dark grandeur from the band. Across 39 minutes Septicflesh once again demonstrate that very few bands can compete with them when it comes to Continue reading “Septicflesh – Modern Primitive (Review)”

Misery Index - Complete ControlMisery Index are a death metal band from the US and this is their seventh album.

Complete Control is the follow up to 2019’s Rituals of Power and contains 34 minutes of death metal carnage. Analepsy – Quiescence (Review)

Analepsy - QuiescenceAnalepsy are a slamming brutal death metal band from Portugal and this is their second album.

I have been waiting for this for soooo long. It’s been a long time since I was hugely impressed by 2015’s Dehumanization by Supremacy and 2017’s Atrocities from Beyond, but Analepsy have finally returned to show everyone who’s boss. Back with almost a completely new lineup, (which includes members of Annihilation and Necrovile), Quiescence contains 39 minutes of Analepsy doing what Analepsy do best – crushing skulls with massive slamming death metal. Continue reading “Analepsy – Quiescence (Review)”

Demonical – Mass Destroyer (Review)

Demonical - Mass DestroyerDemonical are from Sweden and this is their seventh album. They play death metal.

I always enjoy Demonical’s work, (check out 2016’s Black Flesh Redemption and 2018’s Chaos Manifesto), so new material by the band is definitely well-received. I never got the chance to review 2020’s World Domination, so now that we have Mass Destroyer I wanted to make certain that this oversight didn’t happen twice. Continue reading “Demonical – Mass Destroyer (Review)”

Tzompantli – Tlazcaltiliztli (Review)

Tzompantli - TlazcaltiliztliThis is the debut album from US death/doom band Tzompantli.

Tlazcaltiliztli contains 33 minutes of crushing death/doom, brought to us by members of Teeth and Xibalba. The band’s take on doom-infused death metal is terrifying and harsh; Tlazcaltiliztli is one of the foulest and most baleful albums I’ve heard in a while. Continue reading “Tzompantli – Tlazcaltiliztli (Review)”

Introtyl – Adfectus (Review)

Introtyl - AdfectusIntrotyl are a Mexican death metal band and this is their second album.

Introtyl play pure, 90s-influenced old-school death metal, and do so with skill. The band deliver eight songs in 31 minutes, and don’t mess around. Think along the lines of Monstrosity, Deicide, and Suffocation, and you’ll be on the right lines. Continue reading “Introtyl – Adfectus (Review)”
