Shaarimoth – Devildom (Review)

Shaarimoth - DevildomThis is the third album from Shaarimoth, a blackened death metal band from Norway.

Shaarimoth return with Devildom, a new 43 minutes of material. After a considerable gap since their last album, (2017’s Temple of the Adversarial Fire), I knew I wanted to make sure I immersed myself in the band’s dark blackened death metal once more. Shaarimoth haven’t been totally absent though during that time though, as in 2021 they also contributed to a split release with Thy Darkened Shade, Amestigon and Inconcessus Lux Lucis called SamaeLilith: A Conjunction of the Fireborn. Vomit Forth – Terrified of God (Review)

Vomit Forth - Terrified of GodThis is the second album from Vomit Forth, a death metal band from the US.

Following on from 2022’s ugly and brutal Seething MalevolenceTerrified of God contains 27 minutes of ferocious material. Vomit Forth’s new record is a hideous slab of nasty death metal carnage. Continue reading “Vomit Forth – Terrified of God (Review)”

Fit for an Autopsy – The Nothing That Is (Review)

Fit for an Autopsy - The Nothing That IsFit for an Autopsy are a deathcore band from the US and this is their seventh album.

I do so like Fit for an Autopsy. If you haven’t already, check out The Depression Sessions, The Great CollapseThe Sea of Tragic BeastsOh What the Future Holds, and The Aggression Sessions; all are worth your time and document a band increasingly carving their own niche in deathcore’s crowded landscapes. So then, what do the 44 minutes of new material on The Nothing That Is provide us with? Continue reading “Fit for an Autopsy – The Nothing That Is (Review)”

Black Curse – Burning in Celestial Poison (Review)

Black Curse - Burning in Celestial PoisonBlack Curse are a US black/death metal band and this is their second album.

Following on from 2020’s hideously good Endless Wound, comes the 45-minute monstrosity that is Burning in Celestial Poison. Featuring five tracks that are mostly far longer than their predecessors, Black Curse have unleashed a severe statement of malevolent intent with their new record. Continue reading “Black Curse – Burning in Celestial Poison (Review)”

Carnosus – Wormtales (Review)

Carnosus - WormtalesThis is the third album from Swedish death metal band Carnosus.

2023’s very enjoyable Visions of Infinihility made a splash in the death metal pond, and now Wormtales is here to capitalise. Let’s see what Carnosus have for us this time around. Continue reading “Carnosus – Wormtales (Review)”

Blood Incantation – Absolute Elsewhere (Review)

Blood Incantation - Absolute ElsewhereThis is the third album from US death metallers Blood Incantation.

2016’s Starspawn and 2019’s Hidden History of the Human Race were both great records, and now we finally have the much-anticipated Absolute Elsewhere. It’s Blood Incantation’s longest album at 44 minutes, and uses this time wisely to showcase its mastery of cosmic progressive death metal. Continue reading “Blood Incantation – Absolute Elsewhere (Review)”

Maul – In the Jaws of Bereavement (Review)

Maul - In the Jaws of BereavementThis is the second album from US death metal band Maul.

I confess I had unreasonably high expectations for this one going in. I really enjoyed 2022’s Seraphic Punishment, in that deeply satisfying way that only quality death metal can give you. Now that the 39 minutes of In the Jaws of Bereavement has arrived with the force of a gigantic hammer, have my expectations been met? Continue reading “Maul – In the Jaws of Bereavement (Review)”

Ripped to Shreds – Sanshi (Review)

Ripped to Shreds - SanshiThis is the fourth album from US death metallers Ripped to Shreds.

I thoroughly enjoyed 2022’s 劇變 (Jubian), so have been excited to listen to Sanshi. Containing 41 minutes of new material, Ripped to Shreds are on fire on their new record. Continue reading “Ripped to Shreds – Sanshi (Review)”

Undeath – More Insane (Review)

Undeath - More InsaneUndeath are a death metal band from the US and this is their third album.

Undeath have built a strong reputation very quickly. 2020’s Lesions of a Different Kind put them on the map, and then It’s Time…to Rise from the Grave saw them conquer and dominate a large portion of it. With that in mind, what do the 34 minutes of More Insane bring us? Continue reading “Undeath – More Insane (Review)”
