Cryptopsy – As Gomorrah Burns (Review)

Cryptopsy - As Gomorrah BurnsThis is the eighth album from Canadian death metallers Cryptopsy.

New Cryptopsy! It’s been a while. When we last heard from them they had released two strong EPs, (2015’s The Book of Suffering – Tome I and 2018’s The Book of Suffering – Tome II), but now they’re back and ready to achieve their kill quotas. Pestifer play a technical/progressive brand of death metal that’s roughly in the style of Obscura, Death, Pestilence, and Atheist, with a touch of Gorguts thrown in for good measure. Till the Dirt - Outside the SpiralThis is the the debut album by US extreme metal band Till the Dirt.

Brought to us by the singer of Atheist, Outside the Spiral contains 46-minutes of atypical extreme metal. It has a death metal base, but this is spliced with a few different influences to create something a little outside of the norm. Continue reading “Till the Dirt – Outside the Spiral (Review)”

Lokust – Infidel (Review)

Lokust - InfidelThis is the debut album from UK metal band Lokust.

Infidel is a 52-minute metal album that uses modern, groove, and thrash metal to produce a crushing assault that’s shockingly accomplished for a debut album. Despite the genre tags I’ve just thrown around though, Infidel might not be what you’re expecting. Continue reading “Lokust – Infidel (Review)”

The Zenith Passage – Datalysium (Review)

The Zenith Passage - DatalysiumThe Zenith Passage are a death metal band from the US and this is their third album.

Well, it’s been a shockingly long time since the first album by The Zenith Passage – Solipsist was released in 2016, and a lot has happened since then. When it comes to the band themselves, they have now returned with an almost completely new lineup, which includes a bassist and singer who were both in The Faceless. So, across its 46 minutes of material, what does Datalysium have to offer us, and does it match up to the hype? Continue reading “The Zenith Passage – Datalysium (Review)”

Nightmarer - Deformity AdriftNightmarer are an international death metal band and this is their second album.

Featuring current and ex-members of Alluvial, Convulsing, Gigan, The Ocean, and War from a Harlots Mouth, you know that Nightmarer have a lot of diverse experience to offer. The Eating Cave – The Miscalculation (Review)

The Eating Cave - The MiscalculationThis is the second album from US death metallers The Eating Cave.

Hot on the heels of Ingurgitate from last year, The Eating Cave have already returned with 36 minutes of new material. Their previous album made a very good impression on me, so it is great to hear some new songs from The Eating Cave so soon. Their brand of modern technical death metal hit the spot for me on their debut, and the same is true with The Miscalculation.
