Bleeding Gods are from the Netherlands and this is their second album. They play symphonic blackened death metal.
With a suitably epic album concept based around the twelve labours of Hercules, this is epic blackened death metal replete with some thrash metal elements and a strong symphonic backbone. Continue reading “Bleeding Gods – Dodekathlon (Review)”
Xenosis are a progressive/technical death metal band from the US and this is their third album.

Tongues are a black metal band from Denmark and this is their debut album.
The band’s 2014 EP Thelésis Ignis was an extremely strong first release, making it onto my best of 2104 end of year list. The EP showcased the band’s compelling mix of black, death, and doom metal, one which they have refined further for Hreilia. Continue reading “Tongues – Hreilia (Review)”
Ne Obliviscaris are an Australian progressive extreme metal band and this is their third album.
Urn is epic, progressive, aggressive, and textured. It’s a release that has a lot to absorb and experience, requiring multiple sittings to really even start to get the most from it. This is a complex and emotive listen, one that’s highly rewarding and enjoyable. Continue reading “Ne Obliviscaris – Urn (Review)”

This is the debut album from Tchornobog, a black/death/doom metal one-man project from the US.
Although this is ostensibly a solo project, (from the man that brought us the mighty Aureole), it also features several session musicians and guests, (most notably from Esoteric and Svartidauði), which help to flesh out the release. Continue reading “Tchornobog – Tchornobog (Review)”
After two decades of existence extreme metallers Goatwhore show no sign of wear and tear as they’ve just released what’s possibly their best and most well-rounded album to date – Vengeful Ascension. If you haven’t heard it yet then I strongly urge you to check it out as it’s quite the corker.
Drummer Zack Simmons talked to us a bit about the new album… Continue reading “Interview with Goatwhore”
