Jade – Mysteries of a Flowery Dream (Review)

This is the second album from international death metal band Jade.

As a subgenre, atmospheric death metal never really took off like its black metal counterpart did. However, if you want a good example of what it might look like, then look no further than Jade. Making a good impression with 2022’s The Pacification of Death, and cementing this with last year’s split with Sanctuarium, the 43-minute Mysteries of a Flowery Dream is one I’ve been looking forward to. A Flock Named Murder – Incendiary Sanctum (Review)

A Flock Named Murder are a black/extreme metal band from Canada and this is their second album.

Incendiary Sanctum only contains four tracks, but has a running time of 64 minutes. A Flock Named Murder are ambitious, and use this time to explore a hybrid sound that combines elements of black, death, doom, and post-metal together very effectively. Lightless – A Foreseen Loss (Review)

This is the debut album from German doom band Lightless.

A Foreseen Loss is a crushing 80-minute slab of blackened doom. Lightless play a gargantuan brand of doom mixed with serrated black metal and dark murderous sludge, (along with touches of post-metal and drone). Conan – Violence Dimension (Review)

This is the sixth album from UK doom metallers Conan.

I haven’t managed to review a Conan album since 2016’s Revengeance, so rectifying this is long overdue. Since Revengeance Conan have changed lineup, picking up a drummer from Dread Sovereign and a bassist who used to be in the mighty Fudge Tunnel. Let’s get to it then. Tribunal’s debut record The Weight of Remembrance was a notable release from 2023, so a new album from the band carries the freshly acquired weight of expectation. Rothadás are a death/doom band from Hungary and this is their second album.

Töviskert… a Kísértés Örök Érzete… Lidércharang almost passed me by, but I heard enough underground buzz about it that I had to check it out. Church of the Sea – Eva (Review)

This is the second album from Greek doom band Church of the Sea.

Mizmor & Hell – Alluvion (Review)

This is a collaboration between Mizmor and Hell, both solo doom bands from the US.

Alluvion is a 40-minute blackened doom album that consists of four tracks, (two songs). It fuses the talents of both artists into a expressive whole that’s impressively wrought. This is the debut album from US death/doom metallers Ritual Ascension.

Profanation of the Adamic Covenant contains five tracks that spread out over 48 minutes like a virulent plague. Brought to us by members of Aberration, Feral Light, Suffering Hour, and Void Rot, Ritual Ascension deliver unto us unworthy listeners a monstrously abyssal amalgamation of death and doom metal.
