Fange – Purulences (Review)

Fange - PurulencesThis is the eighth album from French industrial metal band Fange.

I haven’t caught up with Fange since 2014’s Poisse and 2017’s Pourrissoir, and the band have been very productive since then. They have released a slew of albums and developed their sound in different directions, all branching out from a malevolent heart. So what does Purulences offer us in 2025? Decline of the I – Wilhelm (Review)

Decline of the I - WilhelmDecline of the I are a French post-black metal band and this is their fifth album.

Ahh, I do so enjoy a new Decline of the I album. Every album I seem to like more and more too. 2015’s Rebellion, 2018’s Escape, and especially 2021’s Johannes, were all very good records, and I’d recommend them all. Which brings us to Wilhelm, and the 48 minutes of new material it has to offer us. Continue reading “Decline of the I – Wilhelm (Review)”

Tayne – Love (Review)

Tayne - LoveThis is the debut album from Tayne, an industrial rock band from the UK.

Love contains 31 minutes of industrial rock/metal, taking a variety of influences and using them to create something quite charismatic. Tayne’s music is easy to enjoy if you like your tunes to consist of multiple component parts, all joined together with skilled vision. Continue reading “Tayne – Love (Review)”

Alcest Svalbard Doodseskader - Academy 2, Manchester - 12.12.24 (Live Review)

I’ve never seen Alcest before, so this was a great opportunity to remedy that, especially as the wonderful Svalbard were also playing. Doodseskader too, but I don’t really know them. Continue reading “Alcest/Svalbard/Doodseskader – Academy 2, Manchester – 12/12/24 (Live Review)”

An Axis of Perdition – Apertures (Review)

An Axis of Perdition - AperturesThis is the fifth album from UK industrial black metal band An Axis of Perdition.

Apertures contains 48 minutes of malignant dark terror. It’s an industrial black metal vehicle for extradimensional horror that uses the listener’s mind against them. Enter into the world of An Axis of Perdition at your peril. Continue reading “An Axis of Perdition – Apertures (Review)”

The Body – The Crying out of Things (Review)

The Body - The Crying out of ThingsThis is the ninth album from US experimental sludge band The Body.

The Body are an always intriguing and shapeshifting band. Whether it’s their albums, (such as No One Deserves Happiness, I Have Fought Against It, but I Can’t Any Longer, or I’ve Seen All I Need to See), or their collaborations, (such as Ascending a Mountain of Heavy Light with Full of Hell Everything That Dies Someday Comes Back with Uniform), The Body always produce something worth hearing. Lifesick – Loved by None, Hated by All (Review)

Lifesick - Loved by None, Hated by AllThis is the fourth album by Danish metallic hardcore band LIfesick.

I enjoyed Lifesick when I saw them earlier this year supporting Cabal, so knew I wanted to check out the 34 minutes of Loved by None, Hated by All when it appeared. Continue reading “Lifesick – Loved by None, Hated by All (Review)”
