Truth Corroded – Bloodlands (Review)

Truth Corroded - BloodlandsThis is the sixth album from Truth Corroded, an Australian death/thrash metal band.

Truth Corroded serve up over 40 minutes worth of extreme metal on Bloodlands. The band’s style mixes skull-cracking brutality with razor-sharp thrash metal. This is music to simultaneously get smashed up and lacerated by. Continue reading “Truth Corroded – Bloodlands (Review)”

Venom Prison – Samsara (Review)

Venom Prison - SamsaraVenom Prison are a UK death metal band and this is their second album.

2016’s Animus was a highlight of the year for me, and then catching them at that year’s Damnation Festival and interviewing them cemented their position as one of my favourite death metal bands that the UK has to offer. Continue reading “Venom Prison – Samsara (Review)”

Hiss from the Moat – The Harrier (Review)

Hiss from the Moat - The HarrierHiss from the Moat are an Italian blackened death metal band and this is their second album.

It’s been quite a while since 2013’s Misanthropy was released, but it made a very good impression on me, so its follow up, The Harrier, is a record I was pleased to see make its way into my hands. Continue reading “Hiss from the Moat – The Harrier (Review)”

Diluvium Europa 2019 Tour - First Fragment Allegaeon Fallujah Obscura – Manchester Rebellion Live Review

So, who’s up for a night of unbridled technical brutality? Everyone in attendance at Rebellion tonight, that’s who. With a lineup like this, who can blame them?

Also, there’s a bartender here with an Acid Bath T-Shirt on. Top man. Continue reading “Diluvium Europa 2019 Tour – First Fragment/Allegaeon/Fallujah/Obscura – Manchester Rebellion, 07/02/19 (Live Review)”

Mastiff – Plague (Review)

Mastiff - PlagueMastiff are a hardcore/sludge metal band from the UK and this is their second album.

Mastiff play the kind of pitch-black ugliness that I really like. Mixing styles and genres into an extreme metal mass of festering hatred and misery, Plague contains elements of doom, sludge, hardcore, and grindcore, all hatefully mixed together and vomited onto the listener with scorn and bile. Continue reading “Mastiff – Plague (Review)”

Altarage – The Approaching Roar (Review)

altarage - the approaching roarAltarage are a Spanish blackened death metal band and this is their third album.

2017’s Endinghent was a contagious plague of ugly blackened dissonance, and The Approaching Roar provides us with a brand new 43 minutes of dark intensity and malignant hatred. Continue reading “Altarage – The Approaching Roar (Review)”

Gross Misconduct – Equinox (Review)

Gross Misconduct - EquinoxGross Misconduct are a Canadian death metal band and this is their third album.

This is progressive death metal with a thrash influence. The band describe this album in the following way – “Imagine Cynic with a dollop of Death, a smattering of The Crown/Mastodon/Gojira and healthy doses of 1980s Metallica and Slayer.” I’ve simply regurgitated this here as it’s a better descriptor of how Equinox sounds than anything I could come up with. Continue reading “Gross Misconduct – Equinox (Review)”

Xenobiotic – Prometheus (Review)

Xenobiotic - PrometheusXenobiotic are a deathcore band from Australia and this is their debut album.

Australians seem to know how to tear out some decent extreme metal, and Prometheus is a very enjoyable listen if you’re partial to modern heavy music. Yep, fans of Aversions Crown, Thy Art Is Murder, Fit for an Autopsy, and the like are advised to check this out.

This slab of gnarliness also features the guitarist of Earth Rot, which is another selling point. Continue reading “Xenobiotic – Prometheus (Review)”

Behemoth – I Loved You at Your Darkest (Review)

Behemoth - I Loved You at Your DarkestBehemoth are a veteran Polish blackened death metal band and this is their eleventh album.

Containing the by-now core of the Behemoth sound, but expanding on this in various ways across different tracks, this new album is a very strong addition to the band’s discography, one which I’m sure with rightly garner much praise. Continue reading “Behemoth – I Loved You at Your Darkest (Review)”
