Jade – Mysteries of a Flowery Dream (Review)

This is the second album from international death metal band Jade.

As a subgenre, atmospheric death metal never really took off like its black metal counterpart did. However, if you want a good example of what it might look like, then look no further than Jade. Making a good impression with 2022’s The Pacification of Death, and cementing this with last year’s split with Sanctuarium, the 43-minute Mysteries of a Flowery Dream is one I’ve been looking forward to. Lust Hag – Irrevocably Drubbed (Review)

This is the second album from Lust Hag, a solo black metal act from the US.

I didn’t expect a new Lust Hag album so soon after the artist’s first one from last year, but I shouldn’t have been surprised I suppose. After all, since then, she has also released Prayers Unanswered, (a split with Reaping Fields,), and a split with Genital Shame. Behemoth – The Shit ov God (Review)

Behemoth are a Polish blackened death metal band and this is their thirteenth album.

Caustic Wound – Grinding Mechanism of Torment (Review)

This is the second album by US deathgrinders Caustic Wound.

Caustic Wound contain current/ex-members of Corpus Offal, Magrudergrind, Mortiferum, and Cerebral Rot,, and Grinding Mechanism of Torment is a 28-minute platter of old-school ferocity. Providing us with largely short bursts of death metal-infused grindcore, this is for fans of bands such as Brutal Truth, Carcass, Exhumed, Napalm Death, Repulsion, and Terrorizer. A Flock Named Murder – Incendiary Sanctum (Review)

A Flock Named Murder are a black/extreme metal band from Canada and this is their second album.

Incendiary Sanctum only contains four tracks, but has a running time of 64 minutes. A Flock Named Murder are ambitious, and use this time to explore a hybrid sound that combines elements of black, death, doom, and post-metal together very effectively. Cave Sermon – Fragile Wings (Review)

This is the third album from Australian post-metal solo band Cave Sermon.

On Fragile Wings the artist behind Cave Sermon has created an interesting and enjoyable 4o minutes of music. It’s a hybrid style, combining death, black, sludge, progressive, and post-metal, resulting in an album that covers a lot of bases in a well-blended, immersive way. This is the debut release from Italian death metallers Encelado.

Pillars of Creation contains four tracks, with a duration of 14 minutes. To get you in the right mood for Encelado, the promo blurb mentions bands such as Aborted, All Shall Perish, and Dying Fetus for the music, and Cannibal Corpse and Suffocation for the vocals. Changeling – Changeling (Review)

This is the debut album from German progressive death metal band Changeling.

Changeling is brought to us by current/ex-members of Alkaloid, Belphegor, Defeated Sanity, Fear Factory, Obscura, Vipassi, and Virvum. It’s supported by an army of guests, who perform everything from guest solos, vocals, and choirs, to cello, flutes, horns, piano, tuba, violins, viola, and much, much more. The music combines progressive and technical death metal, with jazz fusion, progressive rock, and world music. It’s a lot, and it’s all packed into 60 minutes of compelling material.
