I really enjoyed 2018’s American Scrap, and it grew in my estimation over time too. At almost 80 minutes in duration this new album is almost double the length of the band’s first full length; Huntsmen are clearly not lacking in ambition. This is riff-friendly sludge metal, with both a hardcore influence and an atmospheric one. There’s a mix of the harsh and the beautiful here, which is weighted towards the energetic former, but the latter is still an important part of the band’s sound too. This is the follow up to 2017’s Loathe, featuring 54 minutes of new material. These songs are generally longer and even more rich in substance and delivery than those of the debut, which is no mean feat. It sounds as if a lot of work has gone into The Eternal Dance.
