Gendo Ikari – Rokubungi (Review)

Gendo Ikari - RokubungiThis is the debut album from Scottish grindcore band Gendo Ikari.

Featuring a member of Ashenspire, Gendo Ikari play scathing grindcore that should appeal to fans of bands such as Discordance Axis, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Antigama, and Pig Destroyer. It’s fast, it’s nasty, and in 25 minutes it will leave you a bloody puddle on the floor. Continue reading “Gendo Ikari – Rokubungi (Review)”

Organ Dealer – The Weight of Being (Review)

Organ Dealer - The Weight of BeingThis is the second album from US grindcore band Organ Dealer.

It’s been a very long time since Organ Dealer’s 2015 debut album Visceral Infection, but the quality of that release has stuck with me. So, when The Weight of Being appeared, I was ready for it. Continue reading “Organ Dealer – The Weight of Being (Review)”

Miserable Failure – тоска́ (Review)

Miserable Failure - тоска́This is the latest release from Miserable Failure, (or MSRBLFLR), a French death metal/grindcore band.

Miserable Failure have surfaced once more to bring us more multifaceted mayhem with this single-track EP.  Toska is a 25-minute descent into chaos, and it’s great to experience Miserable Failure’s dark, warped reality once more. Continue reading “Miserable Failure – тоска́ (Review)”

Elder Devil – Everything Worth Loving (Review)

Elder Devil - Everything Worth LovingThis is the second album from US sludge metal/grindcore band Elder Devil.

Here we are then – 33 minutes of nasty sludgy grind to clear away the cobwebs. It’s not pretty, but it’s certainly brutal. Elder Devil know how to produce an engaging slab of aggressive hostility. Continue reading “Elder Devil – Everything Worth Loving (Review)”

Rotten Sound – Apocalypse (Review)

Rotten Sound - ApocalypseThis is the eighth album from Finnish grindcore band Rotten Sound.

Following on from 2018’s Suffer to AbuseApocalypse unleashes a condensed barrage of mayhem and carnage for us to be punished by. 18 songs in just 21 minutes? Count me in! None of the tracks on Continue reading “Rotten Sound – Apocalypse (Review)”

Straight Hate – Slaves of Falseness (Review)

Straight Hate - Slaves of FalsenessThis is the third album from Polish grindcore band Straight Hate.

On 2016’s Every Scum Is a Straight Arrow and 2019’s Black Sheep Parade, Straight Hate amiably demonstrated their competence in the gritty arts of grindcore. Now they’ve returned with 26 minutes of new material on Slaves of Falseness, and they’re ready to grind. Continue reading “Straight Hate – Slaves of Falseness (Review)”

Tithe – Inverse Rapture (Review)

Tithe - Inverse RaptureTithe are an extreme metal band from the US and this is their second album.

Inverse Rapture is a 29-minute cocktail of foul filth made up of black metal, death metal, sludge, and grindcore. Tithe’s sound is grim and dark, yet wonderfully abrasive within this. Their extreme metal style is hard to pin down, and it’s definitely a hybrid of the abovementioned genres. Blackened sludge with a grindcore edge? Something like that. Hell, I’m just going to call this extreme metal and be done with it.

Nothingness – Supraliminal (Review)

Nothingness - SupraliminalThis is the second album from US death metallers Nothingness.

Featuring the drummer of Ghost Bath, Supraliminal contains 43 minutes of foul, riff-hungry death metal. The promo blurb states that this is for fans of Gorguts, Gojira, Morbid Angel, and Iniquity, and this should give you a good starting point for the band’s tar-thick heaviness. I’m a little late discovering this, but I’m sure glad that I did. Continue reading “Nothingness – Supraliminal (Review)”

Endorphins Lost – Night People (Review)

Endorphins Lost - Night PeopleEndorphins Lost are from the US and play grindcore. This is their third album.

I enjoyed Endorphins Lost’s 2018 split with Osk, and I enjoyed their 2019 album Seclusions. Their successful run continues, as now, I also enjoy Night People too. 14 tracks, 20 minutes; Night People is succinct and to the point, yet doesn’t lack in finesse or depth. Continue reading “Endorphins Lost – Night People (Review)”

Sonic Poison – Eruption (Review)

Sonic Poison - EruptionThis is the debut album from Finnish grindcore band Sonic Poison.

I enjoyed Sonic Poison’s 2016 debut demo Harsh Demonstration, but missed out on the split and EP that the band released after this. It’s now time for their debut album though, and I was determined not to let this one slip by me too. Eruption is an appropriately titled 22-minute assault of vicious deathgrind. Prepare yourself for mayhem. Continue reading “Sonic Poison – Eruption (Review)”
