Coffins – Beyond the Circular Demise (Review)
This is the fifth album from Coffins, a death metal band from Japan.
I haven’t caught up with Coffins since 2015’s Craving to Eternal Slumber, but of course this highly prolific band have been busy since then on a number of releases. Monolord – No Comfort (Review)
Monolord are a doom metal band from Sweden and this is their fourth album.
Mixing doom, stoner, rock, and sludge into 47 minutes of satisfying Black Sabbath/Electric Wizard-esque worship, No Comfort is an enjoyable example of how to deliver a well-worn style with enough personality to be worthwhile. Continue reading “Monolord – No Comfort (Review)”
Cult of Luna – A Dawn to Fear (Review)
Cult of Luna are a Swedish post-metal band and this is their eighth album.

Cloud Rat – Pollinator/Do Not Let Me Off the Cliff (Review)
This is the fourth album from Cloud Rat, a grindcore band from the US.
In my humble opinion Cloud Rat are one of the most forward-thinking, talented, and innovative grindcore bands out there, although simply labelling them grindcore is misleading and constricting, as their work frequently features so much more than your standard grindcore fare. Nightfell – A Sanity Deranged (Review)
This is the third album from Nightfall, a US death/doom Metal band.
2014’s The Living Ever Mourn and 2015’s Darkness Evermore were both notable for their character and quality. Unlike the short gap between those two albums, however, we have had to wait considerably longer for A Sanity Deranged. I confess I have been looking forward to hearing this quite a lot. Mizmor (מזמור) – Cairn (Review)
This is the third album from US solo blackened doom band Mizmor, or מזמור.
Providing a lethal concoction of black metal, funeral doom, and drone across 57 minutes, this album is a harrowing and affecting journey into lost faith and existential crisis.
