Expulsion are a US grindcore band and this is their debut release.
Consisting of members of bands such as Exhumed and Repulsion, (presumably where the name Expulsion came from?), as well as Gruesome, Intronaut, Phobia, and Lightning Swords of Death, it’s safe to say that there’s a wealth of experience that’s gone into this release.
If you’re familiar with the majority of Ginger’s past work, (his solo material and The Wildhearts being the obvious ones that most would probably know), then the latest album from this particular project might surprise you with its content. It’s not pretty, but it is pretty stunning.
With a jaw-dropping mix of extremity and catchiness, and a bucketful of emotional content to match, Mutation have put something quite special together for their latest album – III: Dark Black. All I can say is please, for the love of everything heavy, nasty, and extreme, go and listen to it.

I’ve enjoyed watching Wren develop across their 2015 split with Irk and then on their 2016 EP Host. Both releases impressed me and marked them out as ones to watch, placing them firmly on my radar. A Walk with Love and Death is an album of two halves. The Death side is a ‘normal’ Melvins album, (whatever that means in the context of their ever-changing style), while the Love side is a film score to a short film that shares the same name as this album.
