Vacivus – Nuclear Chaos (Review)

VacivusThis is the latest EP from UK death metallers Vacivus.

Featuring just two songs and lasting under 13 minutes, Vacivus use the time wisely to show off their dark brand of blackened death metal.

Rising up from the underground like some forgotten demigod of war and malevolent slaughter, the music of Vacivus is shrouded in a filthy blackened aura that coats the music like a Continue reading “Vacivus – Nuclear Chaos (Review)”

Invasion – Destroyer of Mankind (Review)

InvasionInvasion are a death metal band from the US. This is their fourth album.

War metal. What is it good for?

The Ritual Aura – Tæther (Review)

The Ritual AuraThis is The Ritual Aura’s second album. They are an Australian technical death metal band.

Well, hold on to your hat, because you won’t be expecting this.

The Ritual Aura’s 2015 debut album Laniakea was a favourite of mine. At only 26 minutes in length it was a supremely enjoyable blast of cutting-edge death metal. Tæther is, to say the least, a lot more ambitious, lasting over 70 minutes in length. In many ways this seems like a different band altogether. Continue reading “The Ritual Aura – Tæther (Review)”

I Am – Life Through Torment (Review)

Life Through Torment is 28 minutes of aural thuggery that blends groovy heaviness with savage extremity.

Question – Gnosis Primordial (Review)

QuestionThis is the latest EP by Mexican death metal band Question.

I was suitably impressed with Question’s 2014 debut album Doomed Passages, so it’s good to have some new material from them now.

Doomed Passages was an album that had its own Continue reading “Question – Gnosis Primordial (Review)”

Grave Plague – The Infected Crypts (Review)

Grave PlagueGrave Plague are a US death metal band and this is their debut EP/demo.

With cover artwork and a band name that drew me in like a moth to a flame, I knew I had to listen to this release as soon as I could.

This short release features two tracks of ugly, primitive old-school death metal. No, I have not been disappointed. Continue reading “Grave Plague – The Infected Crypts (Review)”

Killing Addiction – Shores of Oblivion (Review)

Killing AddictionThis is the latest EP from Killing Addiction, a death metal band from the US.

Having enjoyed their short-yet-brutal 2014 EP When Death Becomes an Art, it’s good to hear some new material from these veterans.

This EP is 15 minutes of classic, 90s-styled Continue reading “Killing Addiction – Shores of Oblivion (Review)”
