Deathwhite are a melodic metal band from the US and this is their second album.

Ever since 2014’s Ethereal saw the light of day, I’ve enjoyed watching Deathwhite flex their creative, melodically-charged muscles. Solitary Martyr arrived a year later with a quality delivery, and by the time that 2018’s For a Black Tomorrow came around, it was clear that Deathwhite’s early promise was not squandered at all. Brought to us from the guitarist of Paradise Lost, rising out of the ashes of his Vallenfyre project, he’s joined on Srigoi by members of both bands, (one of which is also an ex-member of Extreme Noise Terror), giving us 44 minutes of engaging and individual death metal. Drift into Black – Anthems from the Darkest Winter (Review)

This is the second album from Drift into Black, a solo, (with guest musicians), death/doom metal act from the US.

Anthems from the Darkest Winter contains 56 minutes of material, (including a Pink Floyd cover). The music mixes death, doom, and Gothic metal together into songs that have a good balance between all three strains of heaviness. Mourner – Apogee of Nihility (Review)

This is the debut album from Mourner, a death/doom metal band from Russia.

In a surprisingly textured mix of gloomy atmosphere and deathly heaviness, Mourner’s first release is an enjoyable take on the death/doom style. It seems primarily influenced by the old-school triumvirate of Paradise Lost, Anathema, and My Dying Bride, and fans of these bands and the corresponding era should find much to enjoy here. Onirophagus – Endarkenment (Illumination Through Putrefaction) (Review)

Onirophagus are a Spanish death/doom metal band and this is their second album.

A Thousand Sufferings – Bleakness (Review)

This is the second album from A Thousand Sufferings, a Belgian blackened doom band.

We last heard from A Thousand Sufferings in 2015 with their debut album Burden. This was a dark slab of doom/sludge metal, and with Bleakness A Thousand Sufferings have capitalised on the strengths of that early record and produced 41 minutes of tortured and pained heavy music. Nailed to Obscurity – Black Frost (Review)

This is the fourth album from Nailed to Obscurity, a melodic doom metal band from Germany.

Nailed to Obscurity play a modernised version of old-school death/doom. Black Frost contains 47 minutes of material that can be roughly characterised as a combination of old Katatonia mixed with elements of Paradise Lost, Insomnium, Opeth, Décembre Noir, and others. Horrorgraphy – Season of Grief (Review)

Horrorgraphy are a symphonic doom metal band from Greece and this is their debut album.

Here’s a rather unusual release, (for 2018 at least), both in form and consistency; the band is made up of three vocalists and one multi-instrumentalist, while the music is layered old-school doom metal, with a firm symphonic side and rich melodies.
