Behemoth – I Loved You at Your Darkest (Review)

Behemoth - I Loved You at Your DarkestBehemoth are a veteran Polish blackened death metal band and this is their eleventh album.

Containing the by-now core of the Behemoth sound, but expanding on this in various ways across different tracks, this new album is a very strong addition to the band’s discography, one which I’m sure with rightly garner much praise. Interview with Anaal Nathrakh

Anaal Nathrakh Header

A New Kind of Horror is rapidly becoming one of my most-played Anaal Nathrakh albums, and that’s with some stiff competition to go up against from the rest of their impressive discography. In my humble opinion the band’s latest album is definitely one of their best.

Dave Hunt, the band’s impressively intense vocalist, was kind enough to answer some of my questions… Continue reading “Interview with Anaal Nathrakh”

Anaal Nathrakh – A New Kind of Horror (Review)

Anaal NathrakhAnaal Nathrakh are a UK black metal band and this is their tenth album.

Ever since their early days Anaal Nathrakh have carved out a unique identity for themselves in the extreme metal landscape. Albums like Desideratum and The Whole of the Law both showcased well the Continue reading “Anaal Nathrakh – A New Kind of Horror (Review)”

Paths – In Lands Thought Lost (Review)

PathsThis is the third album from Paths, a Canadian black metal band.

Paths is a one man project aided by a session drummer, (from Panopticon). Together they play Scandinavian-influenced atmospheric black metal. For fans of this kind of thing, I have to say that In Lands Thought Lost is definitely above the average, and should be sought out at the earliest opportunity. Heads for the Dead – Serpent’s Curse (Review)

Heads for the DeadHeads for the Dead are an international death metal band and this is their debut album.

Here we have another death metal supergroup of sorts from the always reliable Transcending Obscurity Records. Featuring the vocalist of the very tasty Revel in Flesh and the multi-talented Jonny Pettersson, (Ursinne, Ashcloud, Henry Kane, Just Before Dawn, Wombbath, and others), Serpent’s Curse gives us 36 minutes of horror-themed old-school death metal. Malthusian – Across Deaths (Review)

MalthusianThis is the debut album from Malthusian, a blackened death metal band from Ireland.

Malthusian play a twisted, nightmarish form of blackened death metal. Across these 41 minutes the band show what they’re capable with controlled chaotic force and malignant intention. It’s cavernous, monstrous, claustrophobic, and downright nasty. Continue reading “Malthusian – Across Deaths (Review)”

Mantar – The Modern Art of Setting Ablaze (Review)

MantarThis is the third album from Mantar, a German black metal band.

I’m a latecomer to Mantar’s work, but I can tell you that if you’re looking for filthy, ugly blackened metallic punk that’s still catchy as fuck, then they stand head and shoulders above most of their peers. Continue reading “Mantar – The Modern Art of Setting Ablaze (Review)”
