Epitaphe – II (Review)

Epitaphe - IIEpitaphe are a French progressive death/doom band and this is their second album.

Featuring three near-20-minute songs bookended by a 3-minute intro and outro, II is a mammoth 63-minute offering from this enticing entity. For a simplistic starting point, think of a mix of bands such as Opeth, Nile, and Pink Floyd, and then realise that Epitaphe have even more to offer than this would lead you to believe. Marrasmieli – Martaiden Mailta (Review)

Marrasmieli - Martaiden MailtaMarrasmieli are a black metal band from Finland and this is their second album.

I enjoyed 2020’s Between Land and Sky a great deal, which made Martaiden Mailta one I was definitely looking forward to. Marrasmieli play atmospheric black metal with a clear folk influence, but they balance this against a heart of pure blackened darkness. Continue reading “Marrasmieli – Martaiden Mailta (Review)”

Meshuggah – Immutable (Review)

Alongside the distinctly non-doom Iron Maiden, which they also state as an influence, the band have used these starting points to craft 61 minutes of immersive doom metal. End Boss – They Seek My Head (Review)

End Boss - They Seek My HeadThis is the debut album from New Zealand sludge metal/rock band End Boss.

Featuring the drummer of Beastwars, They Seek My Head contains 33 minutes of sludgy heaviness that is both rough and beautiful. It also has all of the riffs. Sorry, but there’s no more left for anyone else now, End Boss have them all. Continue reading “End Boss – They Seek My Head (Review)”
