Ende – Goétie Funeste (Review)

EndeEnde are a French black metal band and this is their fourth album.

I very much enjoy Ende’s work. Both 2015’s The Rebirth of I and 2017’s Emën Etan were effective examples of traditionally-delivered raw black metal, played well and with good songs. It’s only actually been a year since Emën Etan, but it seems there has been no rest in the Ende camp. Their lack of sleep is to our benefit, however. Black Mass Pervertor – Life Beyond the Walls of Flesh (Review)

Black Mass PervertorBlack Mass Pervertor are a Finnish black metal band and this is their latest EP.

As this is the band’s first outpouring of filth since 2016’s Phanerosis, I knew I had to expose myself to their virulent and toxic take on black metal as soon as I could. Hey, it’s worth the risk. Continue reading “Black Mass Pervertor – Life Beyond the Walls of Flesh (Review)”

Aux Era – Aux Era (Review)

Aux EraAux Era are a US experimental/progressive rock band and this is their debut album.

Golgothan Remains manage to fuse old-school ancient death metal influences with a more modern streak of black/death dissonance. Thinking of a mix of Immolation, Incantation, Ulcerate, and Deathspell Omega wouldn’t be entirely inappropriate. Continue reading “Golgothan Remains – Perverse Offerings to the Void (Review)”

Misrule – Forced to Suffer (Review)

MisruleThis is the debut demo from one-man deathgrind outfit Misrule, from the US.

With only a total duration of 8 minutes, Forced to Suffer utterly demolishes everything in this brief playing time. Continue reading “Misrule – Forced to Suffer (Review)”

Messa – Feast for Water (Review)

MessaMessa are an Italian doom metal band and this is their second album.

This is the follow up to 2016’s very enjoyable Belfry. This was an album that took the classic doom metal template and injected elements of ambient/drone into it, along with the band members’ own distinct personalities. Continue reading “Messa – Feast for Water (Review)”
