Unclean One – I, Tyrant (Review)

Unclean OneUnclean One is a one-man grindcore outfit from Sweden and this is his debut release.

Now here’s something short, barbed, and nasty for you. There’s less than two minutes of material compressed into these four tracks, but what this short release lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality. Continue reading “Unclean One – I, Tyrant (Review)”

Maou Mindu – Grind Against Humanity (Review)

Maou MinduMaou Mindu are a deathgrind band from Canada and this is their debut EP.

Gotta love deathgrind. Taking the direct, lethal assault of grindcore and combining it with the extra depth that death metal can allow, it frequently marries the two together in strong and sexy ways. In the case of Maou Mindu, the results are very sexy indeed. Continue reading “Maou Mindu – Grind Against Humanity (Review)”

Looking for some old-school Swedish grind, Nasum/Rotten Sound-style, with a pinch of Napalm Death? Grid have got you covered. Continue reading “Grid – Human Collapse Syndrome (Review)”

Cloud Rat/Crevasse – Split (Review)

Cloud Rat CrevasseCloud Rat are a grindcore band from the US and Crevasse are a Dutch/German hardcore band.

Hot on the heels of their recent split with Moloch, Cloud Rat turn up again with over 5 minutes of their imaginative, sophisticated grind.

Sophisticated grind? How is that possible? Well, it Continue reading “Cloud Rat/Crevasse – Split (Review)”

Buckshot Facelift – Ulcer Island (Review)

Buckshot FaceliftBuckshot Facelift are a grindcore band from the US and this is their fourth album.

Here we have over 40 minutes of well-written deathgrind. The band take the brief, energetic bursts of punk and grindcore, and entwine them with the staying power of death metal, making for an album that exists on both worlds. Continue reading “Buckshot Facelift – Ulcer Island (Review)”

Sloth Herder – No Pity, No Sunrise (Review)

Sloth HerderThis is the debut album from Sloth Herder, a blackened grindcore band from the US.

Sloth Herder are a murky underground monster that’s slowly been rising up through the underworld over the last few years to claim its victims. With No Pity, No Sunrise, they’re finally ready to make their big assault. Continue reading “Sloth Herder – No Pity, No Sunrise (Review)”

Mindful of Pripyat/Stench of Profit – New Doomsday Orchestration – Split (Review)

Mindful of Pripyat Stench of ProfitMindful of Pripyat and Stench of Profit are both grindcore bands from Italy and have teamed up for this split release, both contributing around 11 minutes of material each.

Mindful of Pripyat are the first of the two bands to show off their stuff. I very much enjoyed their debut release …and Deeper I Drown in Doom…, so the prospect of some new tracks by them was Continue reading “Mindful of Pripyat/Stench of Profit – New Doomsday Orchestration – Split (Review)”

Axis of Despair – Mankind Crawls (Review)

Axis of DespairAxis of Despair are a Swedish grindcore band. This is their latest EP.

Okay, so I don’t normally do this, but as an introductory description of Mankind Crawls I’m just going to directly lift the promo blurb –

“Axis of Despair features former and present members of such bands as Nasum, Coldworker, Infanticide, Volturyon, Livet som Insats, Nervgift and Overtorture. To be exact: Continue reading “Axis of Despair – Mankind Crawls (Review)”

Henry Kane – Den Förstörda Människans Rike (Review)

Henry KaneHenry Kane is a one-man deathgrind/death metal/crust project from Sweden.

This is quite hard to classify, but essentially Den Förstörda Människans Rike is a festering, ugly mix of Swedish death metal, hardcore/crust and Swedish grind.

This is deathgrind of the highest, yet filthiest variety. Think of a mutant mix of Dismember, Nails, Anaal Nathrakh, Nasum and Martyrdöd. Continue reading “Henry Kane – Den Förstörda Människans Rike (Review)”
