Internal Bleeding – Corrupting Influence (Review)

Internal BleedingInternal Bleeding are a brutal death metal band from the US and this is their sixth album.

2014’s Imperium was a damn good barrage of brutality, but now, four years and one tragedy later, The Internal Bleeding of 2018 sound revitalised, energetic, and hungry for blood. Continue reading “Internal Bleeding – Corrupting Influence (Review)”

Within Destruction – Deathwish (Review)

Within Destruction - DeathwishThis is the third album from Slovenian death metal/deathcore band Within Destruction.

Within Destruction’s second album Void was one that made a notable impact. Here we had an album that did deathcore right; blistering death metal extremity coupled with huge slamming deathcore beatdowns, all delivered in a modern package of brutality and carnage. Top stuff. Solium Fatalis – Genetically Engineered to Enslave (Review)

Solium Fatalis - Genetically Engineered to EnslaveThis is the fourth album from Solium Fatalis, a US death metal band.

Here we have 43 minutes of tasty and aggressive melodic blackened death metal. That may be a bit of a mouthful to say, but the music of Solium Fatalis rolls freely from the speakers and is quite easy to enjoy. Continue reading “Solium Fatalis – Genetically Engineered to Enslave (Review)”

Outer Heaven – Realms of Eternal Decay (Review)

Outer Heaven - Realms of Eternal DecayThis is the debut album from US death metallers Outer Heaven.

Here we have 33 minutes of old-school death metal, replete with beefy riffs, crushing groove, monstrous growls, and intense aggression. Continue reading “Outer Heaven – Realms of Eternal Decay (Review)”

Benighted – Dogs Always Bite Harder Than Their Master (Review)

Benighted - Dogs Always Bite Harder Than Their MasterBenighted are a French death metal band and this latest release is to celebrate their 20th anniversary.

Sometimes you just want something ultra-brutal to knock away the cobwebs and get rid of the lethargy. Sometimes you need something to truly get the blood pumping and the adrenaline flowing. For times like these, the simple pleasures of a good brutal death metal band rarely fail to hit the spot. Continue reading “Benighted – Dogs Always Bite Harder Than Their Master (Review)”

Vanhelgd – Deimos Sanktuarium (Review)

VanhelgdThis is the fifth album from Vanhelgd, a death metal band from Sweden.

Both 2014’s Relics of Sulphur Salvation and 2016’s Temple of Phobos are prime examples of quality and creative death metal done right. The latter made it onto my 2016 end of year list, such was the impression it made. As such, I’ve been eagerly awaiting more material from this sterling band. Continue reading “Vanhelgd – Deimos Sanktuarium (Review)”

Horrendous – Idol (Review)

Horrendous - IdolThis is the fourth album from US death metal band Horrendous.

Horrendous are a notable and important band in the death metal underground, I’d posit. As evidence I’d cite albums such as Ecdysis and Anareta, at the very least. Continue reading “Horrendous – Idol (Review)”

Behemoth – I Loved You at Your Darkest (Review)

Behemoth - I Loved You at Your DarkestBehemoth are a veteran Polish blackened death metal band and this is their eleventh album.

Containing the by-now core of the Behemoth sound, but expanding on this in various ways across different tracks, this new album is a very strong addition to the band’s discography, one which I’m sure with rightly garner much praise. Continue reading “Behemoth – I Loved You at Your Darkest (Review)”

Revocation – The Outer Ones (Review)

RevocationThis is the seventh album from Revocation, a US death metal band.

Following up 2016’s enjoyable Great Is Our Sin, this is Revocation’s darkest and most aggressive work so far. Over their existence the band have managed to balance their death and thrash metal influences in an effective ratio, with Continue reading “Revocation – The Outer Ones (Review)”

Aborted – Terrorvision (Review)

AbortedAborted are a death metal band from Belgium and this is their tenth album.

Aborted are one of my favourite death metal bands. Their combination of utter brutality, sickeningly groovy riffs, very charismatic vocals, and memorable songwriting has taken them far and wide over the years. Although some of their output has varied in quality, they always deliver the goods in one way or another. Continue reading “Aborted – Terrorvision (Review)”
