This is the latest EP from Nott, an Italian one man black metal band.
Influenced by classic Scandinavian black metal, this EP contains 27 minutes of darkness and foul blackened venom. Continue reading “Nott – Vestigium Mortis (Review)”
Siete Lagunas are a Colombian black metal band and this release contains their first two demos.
Siete Lagunas combine raw back metal songs – short and caustic – with moments of experimental noise and minimal ambience. Containing 10 tracks and lasting a total of 23 minutes, this is a nasty underground release that will appeal to the connoisseurs of the style out there. Continue reading “Siete Lagunas – I & II (Review)”
Kalaallit Nunaat and Au Revoir are both one man Italian black metal bands.
Kalaallit Nunaat’s side of the split lasts 21 minutes and is divided into two tracks. The music is a mix of raw aggression in the traditional Scandinavian second wave style, and Cascadian atmospheric majesty along the lines of Wolves in the Throne Room, in spirit at least. Continue reading “Kalaallit Nunaat/Au Revoir – Memories from Desolate Battlefields – Split (Review)”
This is the latest EP from US one man black metal band Cryostasium.
I discovered Cryostasium on the 2017 release Starbound, which blew me away, it has to be said. This latest EP is a slightly different beast, but no less impressive. Continue reading “Cryostasium – The Possessor (Review)”

Altar of Perversion are an Italian black metal band and this is their second album.
Sometimes I enjoy the challenge of getting to grips with something that’s absolutely immense in length and content. Intra Naos is exactly one such release. At 114 minutes in duration, it’s an ambitious release, and a potentially daunting proposition for even the hardened black metal fan. However, because the band producing this material have completely pulled it off, it can yield vast rewards for those willing and able to explore its many allures. Continue reading “Altar of Perversion – Intra Naos (Review)”
Ende are a French black metal band and this is their fourth album.
I very much enjoy Ende’s work. Both 2015’s The Rebirth of I and 2017’s Emën Etan were effective examples of traditionally-delivered raw black metal, played well and with good songs. It’s only actually been a year since Emën Etan, but it seems there has been no rest in the Ende camp. Their lack of sleep is to our benefit, however. Continue reading “Ende – Goétie Funeste (Review)”
Wendigo is a one man Canadian black metal project and this is his latest release.
This is a compilation/re-release of sorts, containing Wendigo’s debut demo from 2007 Ivresse, (remastered), as well as two bonus tracks. It’s harsh, it’s raw, but it’s also very enjoyable. Continue reading “Wendigo – Hymnes D’Outre-Tombe (Review)”
