This is the latest release from Swedish death metal band Demonical.
Although certainly not my first love, and I don’t usually seek them out, I do enjoy a good live album. I really like Demonical, so knew I wanted to check out this live recording as soon as I saw it. Bursting at the seams with 62 minutes of chainsaw-driven death metal, there’s a lot of meaty music here to get your teeth stuck into. This is the third album from US death metallers Gatecreeper.
Gatecreeper are always a reliable source of crushing old-school death metal carnage. Both 2016’s Sonoran Depravation and 2019’s Deserted were solid slabs of heaviness, (I also really enjoyed their 2018 split with Iron Reagan), so checking out the 37-minute Dark Superstition was mandatory. Terminal Nation play hardcore-infused death metal, delivering 40 minutes of the stuff over 12 songs on this record. The promo blurb tells us that Echoes of the Devil’s Den is for fans of All Out War, Bolt Thrower, Earth Crisis, Maul, Xibalba, Kruelty, Fuming Mouth, and Gatecreeper, so this should give you a good idea of where Terminal Nation are coming from. Endseeker are a band that are very easy for me to like. Despite cooling on the Swedish death metal style over the years, I fail to be indifferent to Endseeker’s crushing assault.
