Avulsed – Phoenix Cryptobiosis (Review)

Avulsed are a Spanish death metal band and this is their seventh album, (or eighth, if you include Deathgenerations).

It’s been sooooooo long since the last Avulsed album. 2013, in fact – Ritual Zombi. The band haven’t been totally dormant though, as 2015 brought us the EP Altar of Disembowelment, and then over the following two years we were subjected to a whole a feast of gore in Deathgenerations and Night of the Living Deathgenerations. Arising from personal tragedy, 2023 then teased us with the two-track Extraterrestrial Carnage, which whet the appetite for more quite considerably. And more, we now have. Sepulchral Curse – Crimson Moon Evocations (Review)

This is the third album from Sepulchral Curse, a Finnish death metal band.

Sepulchral Curse have never let me down yet. Ever since discovering their dark brand of extremity on their 2016 EP At the Onset of Extinction, they have loomed large in my mind as quality purveyors of blackened death metal. Their first two albums – 2020’s Only Ashes Remain and 2023’s Abhorrent Dimensions – were both extremely enjoyable, so we turn to their third one with great expectations. Faithxtractor are a death metal band from the US and this is their fifth album.

Following on from 2023’s Contempt for a Failed Dimension, Faithxtractor return with the 37-minute Loathing & the Noose. Neckbreakker – Within the Viscera (Review)

This is the debut album from Danish death metal band Neckbreakker.

Within the Viscera contains 46 minutes of music for fans of pit-friendly heaviness. Neckbreakker’s style is a death metal one that has a healthy dollop of groove metal and hardcore thrown in for good measure, all with the aim of getting people moving. It works too.
