Ahh, I love the sound of Swedish death metal crushing its enemies in the morning, (what’s left of it at least – see later). This is especially the case when the style has a malignant blackened sheen to it, as it does with Gutter Instinct’s malevolent output. Having said that, with every release Gutter Instinct change and refine their sound, and this is true of this latest release, as we’ll see. Incorporea – To Exorcize the Sun (Review)

IncorporeaIncorporea are a Spanish black metal band and this is their debut EP.

Here we have a darkly atmospheric 12 minutes of music. The two songs on this EP are very enjoyable examples of what Incorporea are capable of. Full of bleak, depressive atmosphere layered with cold aggression, this brief foray into the land of Incorporea is definitely worth the trip. Carrying a torch for old-school Scandinavian second wave black metal through a forest at night, Asgrauw have delivered an album that really does make me nostalgic for the 90s. Wistful – Metempsychosis (Review)

WistfulWistful is a one man post-black metal project from Portugal and this is his second album.

Metempsychosis contains 41 minutes of dark, blackened music. Mixing together post-metal and blackgaze into an ambient black metal core, this is wonderfully evocative and emotive post-black metal that’s filled to the brim with sorrow, despondency, and feelings of aching loss.
