The Restitution – Into the Dark (Review)

The RestitutionThe Restitution is a one-man progressive metal band from the US and this is his second album.

2013’s Waves was a very enjoyable and impressive release, and I can’t believe it’s been four years since it came out. Continue reading “The Restitution – Into the Dark (Review)”

Harbinger – Human Dust (Review)

HarbingerHarbinger are a UK metal band and this is their latest EP.

Contemporary and highly aggressive, this is music that’s been sharpened to a killing point. Continue reading “Harbinger – Human Dust (Review)”

Kaihon – Terraform (Review)

KaihonKaihon are a modern metal band from the United Arab Emirates and this is their debut EP.

The music on this EP is bright, well-written, and takes elements of the modern djent, progressive, and technical metal scenes, into its embrace. Continue reading “Kaihon – Terraform (Review)”

Wingless – The Blaze Within (Review)

WinglessWingless are a Polish metal band and this is their second album.

So strongly do I associate Poland with death metal, than upon seeing the album cover of The Blaze Within I immediately jumped to that conclusion with Wingless. Well, you know what they say about books and their covers… Continue reading “Wingless – The Blaze Within (Review)”

Extinguish the Sun – Antihero (Review)

Extinguish the SunExtinguish the Sun are an alternative metal band from the US and this is their debut album.

Extinguish the Sun describe their music with reference to bands such as Mastodon, Clutch, Corrosion of Conformity, and Every Time I Die, and I have to say that sets the scene for their music pretty well. Continue reading “Extinguish the Sun – Antihero (Review)”

Cursed Sun – The Amygdala (Review)

Infinight – Fifteen (Review)

InfinightInfinight are a German power metal band and this is their latest EP.

Igorrr – Savage Sinusoid (Review)

IgorrrIgorrr is a one-man project, (with guests), and this is his fourth album.

How to describe this? It’s not easy. Well, I think I’ll just sidestep the entire issue and call it a metal album and be done with it. Then I’ll run away and hide. So, ‘metal’ loosely covers it in a general sense, I suppose, but what an injustice a simple genre tag can be.

This is an album that’s as insane as the album cover. Continue reading “Igorrr – Savage Sinusoid (Review)”

Tornado Kid – Hateful 10 (Review)

Tornado KidTornado Kid are a Russian metal band and this is their debut album.

Holy shitbastards this is good!

This is Southern-styled metal, with a bit of hard rock thrown in for good measure, as well as some hardcore influences. Sometimes when you think of a band who are described as Southern metal, you can think of tired clichés and generic delivery; there’s none of that here.
