Interview with Deathwhite

Deathwhite Logo

Deathwhite have recently released their debut album – For a Black Tomorrow – into the world, and if you haven’t yet had a chance to sample the band’s emotive melodic metal, then I heartily recommend that you do. It’s a very catchy and memorable collection of songs, one which I very much hope to be able to catch live in the future, if rumours of future shows are true.

As Deathwhite are a band that I discovered and enjoyed early on with their debut EP Ethereal, I couldn’t resist putting some questions to the band, which they were good enough to answer… Continue reading “Interview with Deathwhite”

Fubar – Weltschmerz (Review)

FubarFubar are a grindcore band from the Netherlands and this is their third album.

Fubar play melodic grindcore that’s enhanced with crust. Melodic grindcore you say? Why, that’s usual! It certainly is, but it’s also very effective. Continue reading “Fubar – Weltschmerz (Review)”

Afsky – Sorg (Review)

AfskyAfsky is a one man black metal band from Denmark and this is his debut album.

Although principally a solo act, the artist behind Afsky did bring in many session musicians for the creation of this album, (including Myrkur who brings not only her musical skills to the band, but also her always impressive vocals at the end of the last song). These help to flesh out the album fully, and add additional touches to the songs here and there. For example; Continue reading “Afsky – Sorg (Review)”

Atra Vetosus – Apricity (Review)

Atra VetosusThis is the second album from Australia’s Atra Vetosus, a melodic/atmospheric black metal band.

While I enjoyed 2013’s Voices from the Eternal Night, it seems that Atra Vetosus have truly come of age on Apricity. On this latest album Atra Vetosus have expanded their melodic black metal sound to include elements of the atmospheric, depressive, and post-black metal styles, and they have done this very well indeed. Wendigo – Hymnes D’Outre-Tombe (Review)

WendigoWendigo is a one man Canadian black metal project and this is his latest release.

This is a compilation/re-release of sorts, containing Wendigo’s debut demo from 2007 Ivresse, (remastered), as well as two bonus tracks. It’s harsh, it’s raw, but it’s also very enjoyable. Continue reading “Wendigo – Hymnes D’Outre-Tombe (Review)”

Three Eyes of the Void – The Moment of Storm (Review)

Three Eyes of the VoidThree Eyes of the Void are a Ukrainian black metal band and this is their debut EP.

This is melodic black metal that pulses with energy and dark life. This EP is a relatively lengthy one as far as these things go, offering 28 minutes of material to the listener to get engrossed in. Continue reading “Three Eyes of the Void – The Moment of Storm (Review)”

Moonaadem – Moonaadem (Review)

MoonaademMoonaadem is a one man black metal band from Lebanon and this is his debut album.

Here we have 32 minutes of atmospheric black metal with ambient touches. It’s an impressive debut. I can’t help but feel it’s probably destined for undeserved obscurity, sadly, but is definitely worth seeking out due to how good it is. Continue reading “Moonaadem – Moonaadem (Review)”
