Ingurgitating Oblivion – Ontology of Nought (Review)

This is the third album from German extreme metal band Ingurgitating Oblivion.

It’s been some time since Ingurgitating Oblivion terrified the world with their malignant presence. 2014’s Continuum of Absence showed great promise, which was then realised on 2017’s colossal Vision Wallows in Symphonies of Light. The wait is now over, for Ontology of Nought brings us a massive 73 minutes of darkness. It’s time to step into the nightmare once more. Pyrrhon – Exhaust (Review)

This is the fifth album from Pyrrhon, an extreme metal band from the US.

Whatever you want to call it – progressive, dissonant, experimental, avant-garde, etc. – Pyrrhon are not your average band. Their music is atypical and envelope-pushing, while retaining enough death metal sinew amidst the jazz and hardcore influences to propel their extreme metal output forward with creative intensity. Glacial Tomb – Lightless Expanse (Review)

This is the second album from US death metal band Glacial Tomb.

Glacial Tomb boast not one, but two members of the mighty Khemmis, so I’m somewhat shocked that I’m so late to their sludgy blackened death metal party. Yep, that’s right – Lightless Expanse gifts us with a 36-minute platter of horrific death metal, ripe with sludge and black metal flavourings. Teeth – The Will of Hate (Review)

Teeth are a death metal/grindcore band from the US, and this is their third album.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching Teeth develop, from their split with Fister and also with Barghest, to last full length The Curse of Entropy in 2019. Aseitas – Eden Trough (Review)

This is the third album from US death metal band Aseitas.

2020’s False Peace was a mammoth album, brimming with ideas, boasting 11 tracks, and lasting 72 minutes. On Eden Trough Aseitas trim down to a more manageable 5 tracks and a much-shorter 30 minutes, leading me to wonder if their experimental death metal is still as multifaceted and layered as it was previously? This is the debut album from German death metallers Mære.

Featuring ex-members of Ingurgitating Oblivion, …And the Universe Keeps Silent contains 37 minutes of lightless dissonant death metal. The promo blurb mentions bands like Gorguts, Incantation, Morbid Angel, Immolation, Replicant, Phobocosm, and Saevus Finis, so this will give you a good idea of where Mære are coming from.
