Endonomos – Endonomos II – Enlightenment (Review)

Endonomos - Endonomos II - EnlightenmentThis is the second album from Austrian death/doom metal band Endonomos.

Endonomos II – Enlightenment contains 49 minutes of death/doom, although this tag is a bit misleading. Endonomos’ music is far richer and more emotive than many playing that style, and benefits from a base of traditional doom that’s unexpected. This makes Endonomos II – Enlightenment a much rarer gem than you’d normally find within the death/doom arena. Continue reading “Endonomos – Endonomos II – Enlightenment (Review)”

Blood Incantation – Absolute Elsewhere (Review)

Blood Incantation - Absolute ElsewhereThis is the third album from US death metallers Blood Incantation.

2016’s Starspawn and 2019’s Hidden History of the Human Race were both great records, and now we finally have the much-anticipated Absolute Elsewhere. It’s Blood Incantation’s longest album at 44 minutes, and uses this time wisely to showcase its mastery of cosmic progressive death metal. Maul – In the Jaws of Bereavement (Review)

Maul - In the Jaws of BereavementThis is the second album from US death metal band Maul.

I confess I had unreasonably high expectations for this one going in. I really enjoyed 2022’s Seraphic Punishment, in that deeply satisfying way that only quality death metal can give you. Now that the 39 minutes of In the Jaws of Bereavement has arrived with the force of a gigantic hammer, have my expectations been met? Continue reading “Maul – In the Jaws of Bereavement (Review)”

Ripped to Shreds – Sanshi (Review)

Ripped to Shreds - SanshiThis is the fourth album from US death metallers Ripped to Shreds.

I thoroughly enjoyed 2022’s 劇變 (Jubian), so have been excited to listen to Sanshi. Containing 41 minutes of new material, Ripped to Shreds are on fire on their new record. Continue reading “Ripped to Shreds – Sanshi (Review)”

Undeath – More Insane (Review)

Undeath - More InsaneUndeath are a death metal band from the US and this is their third album.

Undeath have built a strong reputation very quickly. 2020’s Lesions of a Different Kind put them on the map, and then It’s Time…to Rise from the Grave saw them conquer and dominate a large portion of it. With that in mind, what do the 34 minutes of More Insane bring us? Continue reading “Undeath – More Insane (Review)”

Devenial Verdict – Blessing of Despair (Review)

Devenial Verdict - Blessing of DespairThis is the second album from Finnish death metal band Devenial Verdict.

Following on from 2022’s very enjoyable Ash Blind comes Blessing of Despair, which contains 51 minutes of new music. Prepare yourself for an onslaught of crushing atmospheric dissonant death metal. Continue reading “Devenial Verdict – Blessing of Despair (Review)”

Temple of Dread – God of the Godless (Review)

Temple of Dread - God of the GodlessThis is the fifth album from German death metal band Temple of Dread.

It has been little over a year since Beyond Acheron, so I was not expecting a new Temple of Dread album again so soon at all. God of the Godless comes to us in the form of 42 minutes of new material, and it once again demonstrates why the band are so good at what they do. Continue reading “Temple of Dread – God of the Godless (Review)”

Keitzer – Pandemonium Humanitas (Review)

Keitzer - Pandemonium HumanitasKeitzer are a German death metal/grindcore band and this is their eighth album.

Keitzer are always reliable at what they do. 2014’s The Last Defence, 2016’s Ascension, and 2019’s Where the Light Ends were all solidly enjoyable records, so it’s great to have the 41 minutes of Pandemonium Humanitas now with us. Continue reading “Keitzer – Pandemonium Humanitas (Review)”

Invocation – The Archaic Sanctuary (Ritual Body Postures) (Review)

Invocation - The Archaic Sanctuary Ritual Body Postures)Invocation are a black/death metal band from Chile and this is their debut album.

Invocation impressed me with their 2016 demo release Seance – Part: 1, so it’s great to finally have a full album off them, a mere eight years later, (the band haven’t been idle though, as they’ve released two EPs during that time). Continue reading “Invocation – The Archaic Sanctuary (Ritual Body Postures) (Review)”

The Black Dahlia Murder – Servitude (Review)

The Black Dahlia Murder - ServitudeThe Black Dahlia Murder are a death metal band from the US and this is their tenth album.

After suffering the tragic loss of their iconic singer, The Black Dahlia Murder have returned with their co-founder taking on vocal duties instead of the guitar. So, following on from 2020’s Verminous, we now have the 33-minute Servitude to embrace. Continue reading “The Black Dahlia Murder – Servitude (Review)”
