Erdve – Epigrama (Review)

Erdve - EpigramaErdve are from Lithuania and play blackened hardcore/sludge and this is their third album.

Following on from 2018’s Vaitojimas and 2021’s SavigailaEpigrama delivers 43 minutes of material for listeners to get stuck into. Erdve combine blackened hardcore, sludge, and metallic heaviness into a record that takes no prisoners.

To call Epigdama a heavy record is an understatement. Erdve dish out punishment like it’s the last thing they’re going to do. Theirs is a lethal display of heaviness, bolstered by darkened atmosphere and colossal beats. The songs move forwards with the inevitability of an avalanche. Unstoppable and relentless, they pulverise and destroy. The omnipresent grooves have a hypnotic quality all of their own.

Within the carnage and mayhem that they cause, Erdve make sure to take lessons from sludge metal’s more mood-based side too. This atmospheric influence is incorporated alongside the massive guitars, rather than kept separate. As the music annihilates, it also immerses, blanketing the devastation it causes in a midnight shroud of lasting darkness.

Erdve have produced another good record. Fans of bands such as Celeste, Fange, and LLNN, should spend time with Epigrama.
