This is the second album from Greek post-metal band Unverkalt.
How to get my attention: start a promo email by stating something is for fans of Cult of Luna & Julie Christmas and Made out of Babies. The downside of this though is that the music then has a lot to live up to. So, across the 47 minutes of material on A Lump of Death: A Chaos of Dead Lovers, do Unverkalt impress, or disappoint? Continue reading “Unverkalt – A Lump of Death: A Chaos of Dead Lovers (Review)”
Rorcal are a Swiss post-black/doom metal band and this is their sixth album.
Rorcal have shown what they’re capable of very ably on previous releases such as their 2014 split with Process of Guilt, 2016’s κρέων (Creon), 2019’s Muladona, and 2021’s collaboration with Earthflesh, so I was eager to experience the punishment Silence inevitably held in store for me, whatever form it took. On this release we get 42 minutes of new material, and it is not to be approached by the unwary. Continue reading “Rorcal – Silence (Review)”

This is the third album from US one-man post-metal band Breaths.
Having really enjoyed 2022’s Though Life Has Turned out Nothing Like I Imagined, It Is Far Better Than I Could Have Dreamt, I knew I wanted to check out what Flotuit had to offer. This new album might have a much shorter title, but has a lot longer duration at 65 minutes. Has this extra time been well spent? Continue reading “Breaths – Floruit (Review)”

Lethvm are a post-metal band from Belgium, and this is their third album.
Recommended in the promo blurb as being for fans of Neurosis, early Cult of Luna, and LLNN, this is a good indicator of what you’ll find on Winterreise. I’d also say if you take LLNN, expand their apocalyptic sound with Cult of Luna’s textured influence, then Continue reading “Lethvm – Winterreise (Review)”
