Oubliette – Eternity Whispers (Review)

Oubliette - Eternity WhispersThis is the third album from US black metal band Oubliette.

I really liked 2018’s The Passage, and I can’t quite believe it’s been six years since that record. Now the band are back, with a refreshed lineup, (which includes the drummer of Inferi), and 39 minutes of new material in the shape of Eternity Whispers. Severe Torture – Torn from the Jaws of Death (Review)

Severe Torture - Torn from the Jaws of DeathSevere Torture are a death metal band from the Netherlands and this is their sixth album.

Torn from the Jaws of Death is a 39-minute hammer smash to the face. I’ve been a huge fan of Severe Torture ever since 2000’s Feasting on Blood, so to say I’ve been excited for this has been an understatement. I’m pleased to say that Severe Torture have delivered the entrails-smeared goods, and have also brought some additional torture implements with them too. Sect – Plagues upon Plagues (Review)

Sect - Plagues upon PlaguesThis is the fourth album from international metallic hardcore band Sect.

Brought to us by experienced hands in the form of current/ex-members of bands such as Catharsis, Cursed, Earth Crisis, Enabler, Racetraitor, The Damned Things, Undying, and many others, Plagues upon Plagues showcases a leap in Sect’s musical journey when compared to their previous work, (such as 2017’s brutal No Cure for Death). Ad Patres – Unbreathable (Review)

Ad Patres - UnbreathableThis is the third album from French death metallers Ad Patres.

I loved 2012’s Scorn Aesthetics, and 2019’s A Brief Introduction to Human Experiments was an enjoyable slab of death metal too. Which brings us to Unbreathable, and the 38 minutes of carnage that it unleashes. Continue reading “Ad Patres – Unbreathable (Review)”

Inconcessus Lux Lucis – Temples Colliding in Fire (Review)

Inconcessus Lux Lucis - Temples Colliding in FireThis is the third album from UK black metal band Inconcessus Lux Lucis.

Inconcessus Lux Lucis made a good impression on me with 2017’s The Crowning Quietus, and this was reinforced on 2021’s SamaeLilith: A Conjunction of the Fireborn split with Thy Darkened Shade, Amestigon, & Shaarimoth. The band have now returned with Temples Colliding in Fire, which delivers 44 minutes of new material. Continue reading “Inconcessus Lux Lucis – Temples Colliding in Fire (Review)”

Gurthang – Martyrium (Review)

Gurthang - MartyirumThis is the eighth album from Polish black metal act Gurthang.

It’s always good to catch up with what Gurthang are doing. 2019’s Ascension and 2021’s Hearts of the Hollow were both solid records, which now brings us to the 43-minute Martyrium. Continue reading “Gurthang – Martyrium (Review)”

Four Stroke Baron – Data Diamond (Review)

Four Stroke Baron - Data DiamondFour Stroke Baron are a progressive metal band from the US and this is their fourth album.

This is my first encounter with Four Stroke Baron, but it’s a very favourable one. Containing 41 minutes of material, Data Diamond is packed to the hilt with multifaceted content. Strap in, it’s going to be a wild one. Continue reading “Four Stroke Baron – Data Diamond (Review)”

Árstíðir Lífsins – Aldrlok (Review)

Árstíðir Lífsins - AldrlokThis is the sixth album from Árstíðir Lífsins, an international, (Germany/Iceland), black metal band.

2020’s epic Saga á tveim tungum II: Eigi fjǫll né firðir was a notable album that introduced me to Árstíðir Lífsins, and I thoroughly enjoyed 20203’s Hermalausaz even more. This means I’ve been looking forward to Aldrlok ever since I became aware of its presence on the blackened horizon. Continue reading “Árstíðir Lífsins – Aldrlok (Review)”
