Boundaries – My Body in Bloom (Review)

Boundaries - My Body in BloomBoundaries are a metal/hardcore band from the US and this is their latest EP.

Boundaries are heavy. Like, crush your skull into a bloody pulp heavy. Add to this the fact that they can also write a good song, and you have a pretty damn satisfying EP. Continue reading “Boundaries – My Body in Bloom (Review)”

Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard – Yn Ol I Annwn (Review)

Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard - Yn Ol I AnnwnThis is the third album from the impressively named Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard, a doom metal band from the UK.

I really enjoyed the band’s striking 2016 debut record Y Proffwyd Dwyll, which saw the band offer up an intoxicating blend of psychedelic sludge/doom metal. In 2018 they unleashed a mammoth, (ahem), split with Slomatics called Totems, which Continue reading “Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard – Yn Ol I Annwn (Review)”

Eremit – Carrier of Weight (Review)

Eremit - Carrier of WeightEremit are a doom/sludge band from Germany and this is their debut album.

As I’m sure many reviews will point out, Carrier of Weight is aptly named, as this is an album of substantial heaviness, both in the sense of sheer heaviosity and weighty atmosphere. Minors – Abject Bodies (Review)

Minors - Abject BodiesMinors are a hardcore/sludge band from Canada. This is their second album.

It only seems like yesterday that 2017’s Atrophy was unleashed on an unsuspecting world, providing those in the know with a visceral, harsh hit of aggressive hardcore/sludge that left a firm mark. Well, Minors are now back with another 30 minutes of material that sees them in fine form once more. Continue reading “Minors – Abject Bodies (Review)”

Primitive Man/Hell – Split (Review)

primitive man hell - splitThis is a split between two US doom outfits, Primitive Man and Hell.

My love for and enjoyment of Primitive Man will be familiar to readers of this site. Suffice to say that I consider them to be one of the best purveyors of ugly, apocalyptic sludge/doom that there is. Continue reading “Primitive Man/Hell – Split (Review)”

Coltsblood/Un- Split (Review)

un coltsblood - splitColtsblood and Un are both doom bands and have teamed up for this split release. The former are from the UK and the latter the US.

I’n unfamiliar with Coltsblood’s work prior to this split, but I certainly intend to rectify this after listening to Snows of the Winter Realm. Continue reading “Coltsblood/Un- Split (Review)”
