Graveyard – Peace (Review)

GraveyardGraveyard are a hard rock band from Sweden and this is their fifth album.

Even though this is the band’s fifth album, this is my first encounter with them. Featuring a very enjoyable classic version of hard rock, this is retro-styled and blues-infected, resulting in a soulful album of tunes and rocking anthems. The band’s multifaceted and rich songwriting shines strongly, and Peace provides a very satisfying and gratifying listen. Continue reading “Graveyard – Peace (Review)”

New Waters – Experience (Review)

New WatersThis is the second album from Finnish hardcore band New Waters.

Experience is suitably titled, leading the listener on an…ahem…experience, lasting 36 minutes. As you travel through the band’s internally-forged landscapes, you get to…ahem…experience their charismatic and aggressive form of hardcore. It’s definitely an…ahem…experience. Interview with Blackwater Holylight

Blackwater Holylight Header

Blackwater Holylight’s self titled debut album is a gorgeous mix of heartfelt vocals, hard rock and psychedelia, and dashes of old-school doom. A rich and textured collection of highly emotive songs, the album is warm and ethereal, easily impressing with its easy atmosphere and diverse songwriting. It’s definitely a keeper.

I caught up with bassist/vocalist Allison (Sunny) and asked a few questions… Continue reading “Interview with Blackwater Holylight”

Brond – Graveyard Campfire (Review)

BrondBrond are a Bulgarian rock band and this is their debut album.

Brond’s music mixes riff-focused modern rock and post-hardcore/rock, with progressive, stoner, and noise/math rock tendencies. Wow. Now there’s a description. Delivering eight tracks across almost 44 minutes of music, Graveyard Campfire is a well-realised and enjoyable release, despite my mangling together of various subgenres in an attempt to loosely categorise it. Louise Lemón – Purge (Review)

Louise LemonLouise Lemón is a Swedish death gospel artist and this is her debut album.

Mixing folk, soul, Gothic, electronic, pop, and ambient into slow, meaningful songs, Purge contains 31 minutes of exquisite material. Pretty much every second of it is tinged with darkness and melancholy, which has all contributed towards the creation of a superlative collection of tracks. Blissful Stream – Dead Religious (Review)

Blissful StreamBlissful Stream is a Swedish one man doom metal band and this is his latest EP.

I really like Blissful Stream. Both 2016’s Ascending Demons and 2017’s Devil’s Night to All Souls, (a split with Lightsabres), were very enjoyable and showcased the artist’s lo-fi and charismatic take on doom metal/rock. Now it’s 2018, and time for a new EP, which we have in the form of the 14 minutes of material that makes up Dead Religious. Continue reading “Blissful Stream – Dead Religious (Review)”
