Louise Lemón is a Swedish death gospel artist and this is her debut album.
Mixing folk, soul, Gothic, electronic, pop, and ambient into slow, meaningful songs, Purge contains 31 minutes of exquisite material. Pretty much every second of it is tinged with darkness and melancholy, which has all contributed towards the creation of a superlative collection of tracks. Blissful Stream is a Swedish one man doom metal band and this is his latest EP.
I really like Blissful Stream. Both 2016’s Ascending Demons and 2017’s Devil’s Night to All Souls, (a split with Lightsabres), were very enjoyable and showcased the artist’s lo-fi and charismatic take on doom metal/rock. Now it’s 2018, and time for a new EP, which we have in the form of the 14 minutes of material that makes up Dead Religious. Continue reading “Blissful Stream – Dead Religious (Review)”
This is the seventh album from Glorior Belli, a French black metal band, (essentially a one man band with hired help).
It’s always great to hear something new from this charismatic and individual band, and here we have 47 minutes of new material.
If you’re not familiar with Glorior Belli’s work, (check out Gators Rumble, Chaos Unfurls and Sundown (the Flock That Welcomes)), this is a band that Continue reading “Glorior Belli – The Apostates (Review)”
Aux Era are a US experimental/progressive rock band and this is their debut album.
Here we have around 38 minutes of experimental psychedelic rock. Fusing elements of psychedelia, post-rock, progressive rock, and punk into involved and exploratory songs, this is a compelling release that’s easy to like if you’re a fan of expressive and well-developed progressive rock. Continue reading “Aux Era – Aux Era (Review)”
Dog Day Sunrise are a heavy metal band from the US and this is their latest album.
Mixing heavy metal with blues/hard rock, Dog Day Sunrise sound like they have escaped form the 90s in many ways. I mean this as a compliment, of course, as I can imagine the band would have made a relatively big splash back then with the right backing and support, etc. Continue reading “Dog Day Sunrise – When the Sky Comes Down (Review)”

Ritual King are a rock band from the UK and this is their latest EP.
This is personable blues/stoner rock, with plenty of groove and attitude. At 15 minutes in length it’s a good introduction to the band’s approachable brand of rock and roll. Continue reading “Ritual King – Earthrise (Review)”
This is a split between Windhand and Satan’s Satyrs, who are both from the US.
Windhand play doom metal, and very nice it is too. On this release they give us 20 minutes of material that’s split into two tracks. Continue reading “Windhand/Satan’s Satyrs – Split (Review)”
